Nothing to Remember

Tears, that's all they were anymore

Laying forgotten and broken

Crying and alone

Tears flowing always

Hermione looked at the words written in her handwriting. "I...I don't remember."

The man looked at her. "Shut up, you filthy mudblood! Crucio!" Light sparked from the man's wand as the spell hit the girl. Hermione screamed and writhed in pain.

"THAT'S ENOUGH!" If Hermione could remember him, she would have known that voice belonged to none other than Lucius Malfoy, Lord Voldemort's right hand man.

"She is filth! Why does the master wish for filth in his presence?"

"SILENCE! You ask far too many questions. AVADA KEDAVRA!" Lucius bellowed in his deep voice, pointing his wand at the man. Hermione watched the man fall, his long red hair falling about his face, a single earring shimmering in the light reflected off the dragon hide boots.

"Silly Weasley. So much potential, but you are one of them! A traitor!" Lucius walked over and unlocked the cell.

"Out now, filthy mudblood!" He leveled his wand at her face. "Crucio!"

For the second time, Hermione screamed and rolled about in pain, causing Lucius to laugh.

"Bring the girl forward, Lucius." The cold, hissing voice belonged to Lord Voldemort.

"Yes, my lord. Anything to serve my master." Lucius dragged Hermione kicking and screaming by her hair into the circle.

"NO, LET HER GO!!!!!!" A young male voice ripped through the air, almost drowning out Hermione's screams.

"Now, Mr. Potter, why would I do such a stupid thing? This girl--this arrogant, filthy girl--has dared to defy all of wizarding society by thinking she is acceptable!" Lord Voldemort laughed coldly.

"Just because she is better than you..."

"What was that?" Lord Voldemort pointed his wand at the seventeen-year-old, who was tied to a pillar. "Crucio!"

Harry did not scream out in pain. Instead, he snarled, "SHE IS BETTER THAN YOU AND YOU KNOW IT!"

"Mr. Potter, you are surely mistaken. Because of your arrogance, I have decided the mudblood will no longer be tortured." Lord Voldemort laughed, causing Harry great discomfort. "You see, the brilliant thing is that the little wretch doesn't remember, but she will. Just before she dies, she will see you pointing your wand at her."

"NO!"

"Oh yes, Mr. Potter, and to my great amusement, it is my pleasure to introduce Miss Hermione Granger!"

Lucius threw the girl into the circle of Death Eaters. "Your gift, Master."

"You will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams for this gift: this last hero of Muggle kind!" Lord Voldemort waved for the dismissal of the lower members of the Death Eaters.

"You can't do this to her!" Harry screamed.

"Mr. Potter, please come here." Lord Voldemort waved his wand, and Harry floated over to the girl.

"Lucius, if you will?"

"With pleasure, my master." Lucius walked over to Hermione and Transfigured large iron manacles to hold her down to the table she had been set upon. "Enervate."

Hermione's eyes flew open, and she screamed in pain.

"Welcome, Miss Granger. Please join our little party." Lord Voldemort flicked his wand and the table she was chained to flew upright.

Hermione's eyes filled with fear as she saw her wand grasped between Lucius' fingers. "That's mine!" she cried out.

"No, you filth. It is not, and nor should it ever have been." Lucius snapped the wand in half and tossed it into the fire.

Hermione almost cried as she watched her wand burning, and then she saw Harry standing in front of her, his wand raised.

"Harry...please, I want nothing left to remember." Tears slid down the girl's face as she looked into his eyes, hoping and yet knowing her death would be cruel and painful.

"I promise, Hermione..." were the last words she heard before she was enveloped in the green-lighted embrace of death.
