I've been called the master of lies many times, the King of Masks.
I can hide my feelings, my eyes don't show any emotions, my real self.
And no one notices the difference anymore.
My own mother believes the mask I show to the world is the real me.
Oh, she'll be dissapointed when she realizes the true.
If she even cares, of course.
Because we Malfoys don't love eachother.
We form alliances, reproduce, and continue with living.
Gaining more and more power.
I believe that's the family motto.
Gain more and more power, and when you can't gain anymore, wait till another Malfoy kills you and takes over your place.
A happy motto, right? I often wonder what miracle prevents me from spending all my time with a psycologist.
Probably the fact that I would drive them crazy.
I think I already did with one.
I had fun with her, too bad her mind wasn't strong enough for a Malfoy, she couldn't stand it past the second session.
There's only one person who can deal with a Malfoy and come back without a scratch. Even leaving his own scratches behind.
Harry Potter.
The Boy Who Lived.
The only human being who has ever been able to see behind my masks, and understand what's behind them. Even for a little while.
I can tell he's always watching me, waiting for that second in which I leave all my masks and am simply Draco, not Malfoy, not the Slytherin Prince, just Draco.
It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
And he waits for it, like a panther waiting for his prey, and then, in that second in which I'm most vulnerable, he gives me one of his looks, green eyes shinning with affection, understanding... and love. And he smiles, a real smile, just for me.
And he destroys my masks, little by little, with each smile, with each look.
And he waits, because he knows that when the masks are back, we go back to being enemies, Malfoy and Potter, the rivals, who hate eachother. But he knows, deep down, that the masks will fall yet again, and he awaits, waiting for the exact moment to try to destroy them again.
And wanna know the worst part? I'm looking forward to the next time I can see that smile, and his green eyes, looking at me, and just at me, showing me he still waits.
Because when my final mask falls, his wait will cease.
Because when that happens, I'll be the one to go looking for him.
And I'll never hide behind a mask again, I won't need them anymore.
Because he will protect me.
Forever.
