The moon hung over the lake. It's pale light reflected on the clear, calm, blue water. The girl dipped her foot into the freezing cold water. The cold stung her foot, but she didn't care. White snowflakes started to fall around her.

"You shouldn't do that," he said as he stepped out of the shadows, "you'll catch a cold."

She spun around and looked at him. His hair looked paler in the moonlight. His gray eyes shone brighter by night than by day. He looked stunning with the moonlight on him.

"My dear," he purred, "come back to our party. We only have a few more hours to endure. So come, my love, let us go back to our engagement party."

He looked at her with eyes dripping with love, admiration, and trust. Her red hair shone bright in his eyes in his eyes. Those deep, penetrating green eyes of hers sparkled like emeralds.

"Love," she said, "I hate all those people. They treat me like I'm a slut, whore or a bitch."

"Dear," he said, his tone sweet and loving, "I hate them to, but my father insists."

"Your father," she spat, with such hatred and fear, "is a man who thinks only of himself, and not about the way others feel!"

"Silence!" he yelled. "He is still my father, and I do not want my fiancé to speak ill of him."

She started to tremble and sank into the soft moist ground. The water lapsed up on the edges of her dress. Never had she upset him like this. She started to cry. When he saw her crying he regretted his words. He wa upset that he had made her cry like this.

"My dearest Virginia," he crooned, "please forgive me. I didn't want to make you cry."

Ginny smiled through her tears. As the tears ran down her cheeks they sparkled like diamonds in the moonlight. They glowed with a brightness he had never seen before.

"You're right, my dearest Draco," she said, "I must go back to our party, even if it kills me."

She smiled a sad little smile. With that smile Draco felt his heart breaking. He hated that he had to put her through this. He held out is hand and she put her hand in his. He lifted her up and saw the mud and water stains on her dress.

"My dear," he said lightly, "are you purposely trying to stain your Persian silk?"

Startled, she looked down at her dress, "Oh!" she gasped. "What have I done?"

"Darling," Draco said, "I can have that stain out in a minute."

He pointed his wand at the stains and they disappeared from the green silk. He walked her pass the willow and into the rose garden. Even though it was winter, the roses were still in bloom. Their white petals were even more beautiful in moonlight than sunlight.

Draco pulled one off its stem and put it in her hair. He smiled at her, and she at him. He led her into the house and onto the balcony with the two grand staircases that led down to the ballroom.

The ballroom had been transformed from its usual dull gray, to a splendid room that glittered, sparkled, and shone like diamonds. Enchanted snowflakes and glitter fell from the ceiling. Statues of gold, silver, diamond, and ice lined the stairs and ballroom.

Grand food was set on a long table with its gold and silver Persian silk tablecloth. A table fountain was set in the middle and butter beer pored down its white gold sides.

"Look at our son and his fiancé," Narcissa said. "He seems so grown up, I feel so old Lucius."

Lucius Malfoy looked up from his plate. His son stood in a tux made of green and silver silk. He fiancé was in an old fashion ball-gown made of green silk. She wore a silver diamond necklace with a huge emerald in the center. Her red hair was in curls and they were tied back with a green ribbon. He also noticed a white rose in her hair.

He looked to his own wife who was dressed in a gown on gold and silver silk. He was dressed in a tux of gold and silver, just like his wife's. She had on a gold necklace and silver earrings. On the tables were roses of white, pink, red, and yellow. All the people there practically worshipped Lucius Malfoy.

Ginny and Draco started to descend down the stairs. Every pair of eyes followed them. Whispers soon filled the room.

"...Draco's so handsome..."

"...They make such a cute couple..."

"... It's a pity she's a Weasley..."

"...I wish I was her..."

"...They are so cute together..."

"...A match made in heaven if you ask me..."

"...They're both purebloods, that's a good thing..."

Lucius stood up and greeted his son when he reached his pant's table, with Ginny by his side. He gave him a short hug and quickly drew back. If there was one thing Draco hated more than anything else, it was hugs from his father. Narcissa stood up and gave Ginny a hug. Both couples sat down and started to eat their hot, delicious food.

"Boy," Lucius said to Draco, "I want to talk to your fiancé alone. Do you have a problem with that?"

Draco looked up at his father suspiciously, "Why?"

"I told you I need to talk to her," he said, "Do you even listen?"

Draco looked and Ginny, "Are you alright with that?"

Ginny nodded and Draco turned to his father, "Okay, you can. But do not try anything!"

"You have my word as a Malfoy," his father said.

Lucius stood up and held out his hand for Ginny, and she took it cautiously. He led her out of the room and headed up the stairs to the library.

"I don't trust him," Draco said. "I don't trust him one bit. And it hurts me because he is my father and I should trust him."

"Dear," Narcissa said, "I don't want you to be miserable just because you don't trust your father. Even I don't trust that much anymore. But I promise, he will not harm Virginia."

Draco looked to the door and saw Ginny's family come in. he excused himself and headed over to greet them. All of them were dressed in secondhand gowns and tuxes, but they managed to make them look as good as every other gown or tux in the whole place.

"Greeting's," Draco said when he reached them. "Did you have any trouble finding us?"

"Oh, no," Arthur said. "We had no trouble at all, easy as anything. We just had a little trouble getting ready."

"Where's Ginny?" Molly demanded. "Where is my baby?"

Draco sighed, "She is refreshing herself, Mrs. Weasley. Are Harry and Hermione coming?"

"Yes they are," Ron said, "but they said they would be a little late, since they are flying in from Japan."

"Thank you Weas... Ron," he said. "Now, please come in and have something to eat."

Ginny's family hurried pass the rest of the guests and sat down at the table were Draco's mother was sitting. They had just sat down when a piercing scream echoed around the ballroom.
