Hermione sat in the common room, flipping through the pages of Hogwarts: A History for about the five hundredth time. Once again, she was waiting for the boys to come down from their dormitories for dinner. Suddenly, she heard the shuffle of feet coming down the stairs and she found Harry coming down.
"Hey, where's Ron?" Hermione asked kindly. Harry came up to her seat and placed himself on the arm of the chair.
"I thought he was with you!" Harry said, his face showing a blank look. Hermione looked up at him, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. They stared at each other for a second, and then both stood up.
"Um, let's go find him," Hermione said, clearly confused about Ron's whereabouts. Harry nodded and they both exited the common room through the portrait hole.
"Where would he go without telling us?" Harry asked, now sounding a bit worried. " I mean, he never ever goes anywhere without telling us where he went. That's what we do!"
Hermione gave a small smile but continued to stroll down the hall, searching every corridor and any sign of her red headed friend. Harry and Hermione looked around, having no idea how they would find him. But then, they found heard a loud crash coming from the Charm's classroom down the hall. They ran to the door and pushed it open. What they found was relief and shock as they viewed the scene inside.
Ron was there, to their relief, but the shock was he wasn't the only person there. Lavender was leaned up against the wall, one side of her blouse hanging down her shoulder, her face red, from what they could not tell. She was breathing hard and her robe had been tossed carelessly aside. And then there was Ron. Leaning over her protectively he stood. His robes were also absent from his body and his face was covered in lipstick, obviously Lavender's. As Harry and Hermione scanned the room, they discovered a picture, the glass broken into pieces scattered on the ground. Hermione and Harry recognized the picture as the one that hung right where Lavender's head was. Hermione immediately guessed what had happened but Harry had different ideas.
"Bloody hell Ron! You raped her!?" Harry asked, astounded. The scene took an amusing turn indeed. Ron dropped his jaw in surprise and vigorously shook his head. Lavender scrambled from her vulnerable position on the wall and grabbed her robes, throwing them over her, blushing crimson. Hermione stifled a laugh, knowing how much more awkward it would make this situation. She glanced at Harry, as if questioning his intelligence, or indeed, sanity. She caught Harry give her a sideways glance and she saw him wink at her. She tried her best to hide her smile from the rest of her room. Then, the explanations began.
"See, Ron and I were, um, studying..."
"Lavender and I were just looking at some books..."
"It was hot so we decided to take off our cloaks..."
"And then the funniest thing happened..."
"The picture just fell off the wall!"
"I rushed to help Lavender so she wouldn't get hit..."
"And I accidentally got pushed against a wall..."
"And then you found us!"
Lavender and Ron exchanged uncomfortable looks, clearly feeling guilty and knowing they were caught. Harry and Hermione exchanged sly looks, not buying any of their lies. And they weren't going to let Lavender nor Ron get away with it. So the contradictions began as well.
"Interesting, what class were you studying for?" Hermione asked, her eyes gleaming.
"Er, Herbology?" Ron answered weakly.
"Interesting because we didn't cover anything that needed to be studied in the past week," Hermione stated. "And trust me, I would know."
"And I wonder why you were so hot you had to take your cloaks off in the middle of winter," Harry said.
"Um," Lavender squeezed out.
"And Ron, you have lipstick marks all over your face," Hermione said.
"There is no use lying to us anymore, you two, we weren't born yesterday," Harry answered cleverly.
"Alright you caught us! Lavender and I were snogging okay? Is it a crime?" Ron asked exasperated. Lavender stood with her head down, looking so ashamed all Harry and Hermione could do was laugh. Ron and Lavender looked at them, with annoyed expressions, waiting for them to stop. Finally, when they did stop, Hermione explained.
"You two seemed so guilty, it was kind of funny. Yes, it is okay that you snog, but it was just weird to walk in on it," Hermione said. Harry smiled, shaking his head. "We are going to leave you to your 'studying' and we are going to go back to the common room. See you later."
With that, Harry and Hermione left and as they walked down the hall, you could still hear them laughing about it.
