- After putting poor Moony through so much angst in my other fics, I decided he needed some fluffiness...and a decent helping of smut as well ;)
Catch me if you can.
Remus yawned and rubbed at his eyes with a free hand. A quick glance at the clock told him it was gone three in the morning; he cursed softly and flicked through the book in his hand. A few more pages to the end of the chapter and then he could go to sleep...
Something cold and wet touched the back of his neck and the book flew across the Gryffindor common room as he yelped in surprise.
An extremely-pleased looking black dog padded round to the front of the sofa. Technically speaking, dogs can't smirk, but Padfoot was doing remarkably well with a muzzle. He dropped a slightly soggy note onto Remus' lap and then bounded away, slipping out the portrait door and vanishing into the castle. Remus sighed and gingerly picked up the damp piece of paper, on which a few lines were hastily scribbled:
All work and no play makes Remus a dull boy.
Catch me if you can.
Remus chuckled and stretched, feeling tired muscles reawaken. If Sirius wanted to play, they would play.

The wolf in Remus waxed and waned with the moon, and whilst he only suffered physical change around the full moon, his instincts and senses changed with the lunar cycle. The moon was currently waxing and the animal in him was restless, sharpening his hearing and sense of smell. Remus padded down the corridor, eyes half closed as they were ineffectual in the darkness, swinging his head from side to side as he followed Sirius' scent. In his mind, the corridor was splashed with glowing white, patches of Sirius-ness that marked his trail. Remus smiled to himself softly, ears pricked for a hint of his prey, or for Filch on a night-time wander. He hadn't bothered with the Marauder's map or Invisibility Cloak - why spoil the fun? - and was well aware that he presented an odd sight, dressed in Muggle jeans and shirt, but barefoot that he might move silently. However, he had a hunter's advantage and moved confidently through the labyrinth of corridors.
The trail meandered through the school, descending to the dungeons - Remus caught a distinctly acrid scent outside the Slytherin common room and had to suppress a giggle - and threading through the kitchens. Sirius must have run flat out, Remus thought, as the scent was already fading. Remus picked up the pace; he did not intend to spend the whole night running around the school.

Remus emerged at the top of Astronomy Tower, carefully checking for any late night stargazers. The rooftop was deserted - no Sirius yet - and Remus raised his head to stare at the half-moon hanging low in the sky. He could feel its beauty tugging at him, inviting him to run and raise his voice to the stars, but at the moment the impulse was carefully reigned in. He explored the rooftop carefully until he found a patch that fairly reeked of his lover; placing his palms on the stone he could feel the residual traces of body heat. He crouched and bent closer to sniff deeply. Ahhh. To his enhanced senses, the difference between Sirius-boy and Padfoot-dog was distinct, and this spot bore the scent of Sirius-boy - and his arousal. Remus closed his eyes and rocked on his heels as he formed an image based on what his nose was telling him. Padfoot had come up the stairs and apparently run circles around the rooftop, before shifting back to Sirius and settling in this spot. He had then...he had...Remus licked his lips at the image of Sirius slowly stroking himself under the moon. As the young werewolf opened his eyes, the silver light caught them and for a heartbeat, they blazed gold and a soft growl could be heard. Swiftly, Remus rose and made his way down the stairs. This would end soon.

The trail ran straight from here, straight down to the ground floor and out a side door, then straight on towards the Forbidden Forest. The Marauders had long lost their fear of this place, as its denizens were well aware of Remus and wisely left him and his pack alone. It was a favourite haunt of him and Sirius as it guaranteed privacy - especially this early in the morning. Remus broke into a run as he entered the shadows of the trees. The scent was fresh now, almost alive, and he pounded the trail until the mass of shadows began to take on a familiar form, teeth and eyes shining briefly in the darkness as the black dog turned to see its pursuer and then increased its pace. His quarry in sight, the beast lent Remus its speed and as soon as he was in range, Remus gathered himself and leapt, barrelling into Padfoot and bowling him over.
They came to a halt, a tangle of fur and flesh, with Remus successfully pinning his prey to the floor. There was a peculiar writhing beneath him and then a muffled, breathless voice:
"You win, Remus."
Remus shifted slightly and smiled down at the distinctly ruffled Sirius, who was still panting from the run. One of the peculiarities of the Animagus transformation was that whatever state the wizard was in when he transformed, that was the state to which he returned. Remus, as a werewolf, had to suffer the indignity of waking up after a full moon extremely naked, having shed his robes in the transformation; Sirius would shift from dog to man and still be wearing his robes and carrying anything he had on him when he became Padfoot. However, Sirius had evidently got out of bed and grabbed the first clothing available before going to Remus as Padfoot, as he was wearing nothing but a voluminous outer robe, which had fallen open to reveal ever inch of his smooth, lightly tanned skin.
"And what is my prize for winning?" Remus murmured, allowing his gaze to drift along Sirius' body with a predatory smile. Sirius only smiled and reached up to kiss him lightly, fingers twining in Remus' hair. This was a habit of Sirius', and at his request Remus kept his hair a little shaggier than he originally intended. Sirius might be happy with shoulder length locks and still look ruggedly masculine, but Remus had a sneaking suspicion that if he tried a similar look, all he would manage was to look feminine.
All thoughts of hair styling were quickly driven from his head as Sirius deepened the kiss, driving his tongue into Remus' mouth so that he moaned with pleasure. Remus' hands were already roaming Sirius' body, tracing familiar muscles and scars and teasing the places he knew would drive the dark-haired boy wild. Sirius broke the kiss gasping as Remus caught one nipple with a sharp fingernail, careful not to hurt but just rough enough for Sirius to whimper with need. Sirius pulled at Remus' clothes, desperate to reveal more skin, burying his face in Remus' neck to nibble softly. Remus moaned slightly again, pausing to enjoy the sensation of Sirius' tongue and teeth against the skin. Part of his enjoyment of the love bites was the knowledge that they were be there in the morning; tangible proof of Sirius' claim on him, proof that he was wanted and needed and loved. Not that such deep thoughts were troubling him at the moment, as Sirius had managed to remove the offending shirt and was licking his way slowly down Remus' chest, long hair falling forward to brush against the sensitive skin.
Remus arched, feeling his breathing quicken but Sirius stopped at his waistband and pulled back, teasing. His cocked his head slightly to one side and pouted. Remus smiled and leant forward, returning Sirius' caresses, rolling his tongue around one dusky nipple, then the other. He let his fingertips roam, barely touching Sirius' flanks and thighs and walking a slow path down from his navel until Sirius bucked beneath him, desperate for more.
Remus pulled away and shifted so he was crouched over his lover, enabling Sirius to dispose of his trousers. Both were panting slightly, desire taking them past games and Remus settled onto Sirius' lap, biting his lip as their erections came into contact. Dark eyes met amber, hunger finding hunger and Remus began to rock slowly, watching the passion burn in Sirius' face. This was familiar and safe, and yet every time exciting and new. Remus couldn't imagine ever becoming bored of this body, this boy whose hands were once again clutching in his hair as he ground his hips against him. His best friend and his lover.
Sirius' movements became more urgent and Remus responded, faster and faster, riding a wave of lust until everything contracted to this moment and this feeling, this white-hot need and he felt Sirius shuddering beneath him, heard his name in a hoarse cry and that was it, he tumbled over the edge and a howl escaped him as he climaxed, gaze still locked to Sirius'.
Sated, he fell forward, a puddle of languid limbs moulding around Sirius' larger frame. Sirius attempted to pull something of the abandoned cloak around them but settled for cuddling Remus as close as he could manage. Remus sighed, enveloped in the comforting glow of Sirius-scent and that wonderful cocktail that was their us-scent. Sirius muttered something that even Remus' hearing couldn't catch and he pulled his head up to request a repeat.
"I said, you are anything but dull, love."
And Remus smiled.
