Lovely Daisies

By: Lilie Blaze

Walking into the cold bathroom, she slipped off her heels and the revealing black halter dress she had worn to the party. Taking the bobby pins out, a wave of chocolate curls fell softly down her back. As she pulled off her bra and panties, she glanced in the mirror, She knew she had what they wanted. The perfect package: the hourglass figure, the flawless porcelain face, the soft curls cascading to her waist. She knew their eyes followed her all around the crowded room, all wanting the same thing. But she didn´t want them. She wanted him. With his blond hair that hung around his face, creating an angelic aura. His silver eyes that reminded her of the sea: at times angry and full of hatred, while other times calm and full of love. That´s why she went to these parties. She knew he´d be there; she wanted to see him. Wanted to see if he was alone. Tonight, like every other night, he had come alone. She liked it that way. It comforted her to know she wasn´t the only one who couldn´t move on.

Turning on the shower, she stepped in and allowed the steam to surround her aching body. She let the hot water run down her sleek form as her mind drifted into the past; their past. She remembered his strong arms around her, his soft kisses on her neck, those gentle gray eyes...Then she remembered the last time they had been together. It had been two months ago today; she wondered if he remembered it as well. Every time she shut her eyes, she still saw the look of shock on his face when she had walked in on them. It was supposed to be their anniversary and she caught him screwing someone else. She knew he regretted it, she knew he was sorry, she knew he loved her...Now she knew, but her pride would not let her see it then. It was her foolish pride that did now allow her to forgive him and now it was too late.

Stepping out of the shower, she didn´t bother to dry off. Instead she pulled on the black silk robe he´d given her and headed into her bedroom.

She grabbed the silver quill and some decorative parchment. This is the only way, she thought, sitting down on her bed. She began to write, knowing deep down what she had to do.

Upon finishing, she took off her necklace and attached it to the parchment. She softly traced the contour of the necklace. It was the one he´d given her for Christmas; a sliver heart pendent with a small ruby in the center, hanging on a delicate silver chain. This was the first time she´d taken it off. Placing the necklace and parchment on her bedside table, she picked up the small vile, containing the glistening black liquid. Taking a deep breath, she opened the vile and swallowed the contents quickly.

Feeling drowsy, she lay down and allowed her eyes to close.

"Good-bye. I love you...Draco," she whispered, as the last tear slid down her soft face.

As he walked toward the crowd, he noticed the world around him seemed to be the perfect reflection of his emotions. The gloomy sky looked as though it were ready to rip apart and let forth a sea of tears as the thunder approached slowly. He saw a few people turn and stare in his direction. Some glared, while others held looks of pity on their faces. Ignoring this, he pushed through towards the front and placed the daises on the casket. Looking around he noticed red roses everywhere. But she hated red roses, he thought, She considered them so plain and boring.... it was daisies she loved because they were loving and friendly.... just like her. Unable to control his emotions any longer, he began to sob. This was his fault and he knew it. He knew she´d done it because of the pain he had caused her. He had betrayed the only person who´d ever loved and believed in him.

Suddenly, he felt a strong grip on his shoulder as someone pulled him away from the crowd. He knew who it was instantly.

"Draco, don´t do this to yourself," Harry said quietly.

"How can you say that? You know it´s because of me that she did it. If it weren´t for me, she´d still be here," he said; no longer sobbing, yet the pain and loss was evident in his voice.

"Here, she left this for you." Harry answered. "It explains a bit." And with that, he left.

Taking a closer look at the roll of parchment in his hand, he noticed the necklace wrapped around it. The one he´d given her, the one she never took off. Slipping it off gently, he opened the parchment and began to read her sweet words.

Draco,

By the time this reaches you, I will be gone forever. Please, do not blame yourself, as it is not your fault, my darling. I knew this was the path, which I must take long before. I knew you and I could never be. If it hadn´t been Pansy, it would have been your father. You must see that I am right, my love. I love you and I will always love you, but you are a pureblood while I am merely a Mudblood. As harsh as that is, it is our reality. No one would ever accept us. I guess that is because no one ever knew you as I did. I know that you have a good heart; please follow it. Do not let your father destroy that.

Before I go, I wanted to tell you that I forgive you. I forgave you long ago but my pride would not allow me to see clearly. I am sorry for any pain I caused you and I do hope that you can move on. You are much stronger than I. Please don´t ever forget me. I love you.

Yours Forever,
Hermione Granger

Pressing the letter close to his heart, he felt the pain return as the reality of it all came back. She was dead. Hermione was gone and he was left all alone. You´re wrong, love, I am much weaker than you could ever imagine, he thought.

"I love you, Hermione." He whispered still holding the letter as he pulled out his wand and pointing it at his heart spoke his last words:

"Avada Kedavra".
