The Willow Tree

I looked across the ocean, only to see a clear blue sky. Unlike the deep emotions troubling my heart. I felt a slow wind brushing across my cheek. This brought back memories of him.

"What being would you like to become if you to be reincarnated?"

"Why, Mr. Diggory, are you being so philosophical all of a sudden," I asked playfully.

"Cho... it's just one of my moods."

"Well," as I leaned in for a kiss, "I like this mood. It makes you break the whole stereotypical 'all brawn, no brains' jock image."

There was silence as I pondered my boyfriend's thoughtful question.

"A tree," I said finally. "Cuz I can only be rooted once, never pulled out and placed somewhere I don't want to be."

"Does that go the same way with love?" he asked hopefully.

I studied Cedric's face. He was like a Greek god come to life; like the sculptures I had seen in Muggle museums. High, clear forehead, pensive gray eyes, and high cheekbones, he surpassed my standards when it came to aesthetics.

"Yes." My philosophy was one life, one heart, and one love.

Our lips met once again and the world seemed to revolve around us, stilling time for a moment, everything wrapped in sheer bliss.

Cedric whispered into my ear, "I wanna become the wind. Travel around the world, but ultimately return to where I started."

That didn't seem long ago. Only four months ago. Before the Triwizard Tournament, the Third Task. Before the death. The pain. The grieving. Mourning for the loss of a loved one. Before all that.

As I was in a sitting position, I wrapped my arms around my legs, trying to wash away the feeling of loss, hurt, and pain. I was in that position for quite some time before drifting off to sleep.

I was in the Astronomy Tower, waiting for Cedric, as usual. I felt his arms wrap around me, and I turned. All I could see was his neck and robes. My petite 5'1" frame was lost in the billowing robes covering 6 ft of gorgeousness.

"Let me go, Cho...I can't have a hold on your heart forever," Cedric said sadly into my hair. Ironically, it was him who was holding tightly onto me, when he said this; with his arms wrapped around me, refusing to give up his precious bundle.

Cedric's stone grey eyes met my amber one. "I will always love you. You were my first... But, please don't linger and wish for something that belongs in the past."

He gave me a kiss, the sweetest one of all. I closed my eyes, savouring the moment. As I opened my eyes, I saw the wind blow Cedric's image, stealing him away from me; his spirit floating across the room, out the window.

I woke with a start. I shivered. It was late, and I needed to return to my dormitories in the Ravenclaw house. I got up and walked past a large willow tree, and saw the wind flutter past its branches. I knew I had closure and that in my heart, Cedric was alive and his presence was travelling around the world, only to fatefully return to me, where I would be waiting.
