She had never felt complete until she met him. Even though he was only a memory left in a diary, he loved her as much as she loved him. The last time she saw him was down in the chamber. She watched as he became stronger and she felt her body weakening. She felt his lips pressed against hers, and then darkness fell.
After Tom, she put up a front. She made people believe she was still the same person they knew and loved, but she was not. Her once innocent soul had been tainted by Tom's dark one, and she hungered for the darkness once more.
Years passed. She left Hogwarts and took a secretarial position in the Ministry of Magic. She spent hours on end searching the files for information on Tom's diary, but all she found were dead ends. That was until she came across a list from the days when the Dark Lord had been forced into hiding because of Harry Potter. The list had all the names of people the Ministry assumed were Death Eaters. One name on the list gave her hope.
As she sat at her desk, looking through the Minister's schedule for meetings with the person on the list that gave her hope about Tom, she thought back to Hogwarts. She had loved her first year so much. Tom had been a beacon of light, showing her that Mudbloods were not pure enough to know witchcraft and wizardry. They did not deserve to go to Hogwarts. Tom had taught her that the Dark Lord was the right way to go. Tom had shaped her, moulded her while she was in her prime. Unfortunately, he left her before she could show him how much he meant to her. Never mind, she thought. She would get her chance to show that soon.
Draco Malfoy was slightly shocked when Ginevra Weasley rushed in on a meeting with the Minister for Magic. She claimed she needed to talk to him very urgently. He told her to meet with him later that evening in the Leaky Cauldron. She agreed.
That evening, a new Death Eater was initiated; Ginevra Weasley. Ginevra was the strongest willed witch they had there. That night, Ginevra killed her parents, brothers and her friends. They were weak, ignorant beings. They were unworthy of their lives. They were Mudblood lovers. Her own brother, Ron, had married that Mudblood Granger! It was a disgrace. The Dark Lord was so proud of her that night. She had shown Tom, at last, what he had meant to her. She had proved she would do anything for him. She became the Dark Lord's closest Death Eater. She obeyed him, and he respected her.
It wasn't only the Dark Lord who had noticed that she was not a force to be reckoned with. Draco didn't know why, but he felt draw to her. She was the most powerful, head strong, driven witch he had ever known. Even more so than Granger had been in Hogwarts before Ginevra killed her whilst that snivelling fool Ron had watched. It was then that Draco decided that he could be falling for her. He found himself inviting her to dinner during the evenings, pretending it would be for 'business' but it always ended up as a pleasure trip.
Ginevra lay beside Draco after one of these nights, and watched him sleep. She pressed the mark on her forearm, and shivered. Her Tom may be dead, but the darkness she craved was right there with her now. Draco Malfoy had fulfilled the void, as had the black mark that had been etched forever into her skin by the person whose memory had corrupted her.
