Friendship
Friends mean the world to James.
Being an only child, James has always been cared for, he never learned how to care for.
Then came Hogwarts.
He cares for Peter, who needs a role model to be himself. He cares for Remus, who needs to face a monster every month. He cares for Sirius, who needs to be reminded that if he runs too fast, he won't just run away, but leave everybody behind.
James never learned how much care others need, so he gives everything.
And that night, when Sirius came knocking at his parents' door, he opened it.
Love
James has known for some time that there's something other than friendship going on between Remus and Sirius.
He has noticed Sirius' hard on when he suddenly appears from Remus' bed.
He has heard Remus' breathy laughter coming from Sirius' bed.
But only now, after Remus stormed in his house, after James' parents left, worry etched in his face, does James understand it.
He sees it now in the way they're kissing and touching on his bed, as if James weren't there and the world were theirs.
James knows he should leave, because he doesn't belong there.
But he can't.
Loyalty
James gasps when Sirius lets go of Remus and crawls to him and kisses him.
He wants this; he wants it so much.
But Remus is there, and even if he weren't, James couldn't do this to his friend.
Then he looks at Remus, and sees a smile.
James sees him smile, slowly undressing Sirius in front of him and kissing Sirius' neck, while Sirius' kisses him, wantonly, lovingly.
And James knows that he can give in to Sirius' kiss, because he knows he's not walking over any line, any border.
James knows he's allowed to have what he wants.
Friendship
James knows he has to trust Remus, even if he feels it's maybe too much for Sirius to take.
James knows he has to trust Sirius for knowing that, yes, he wants this. Even with an arm around James' shoulder, griping him tight, the other hand on Remus', closing his eyes and breathing deep, before lowering himself, Sirius wants this.
James knows Sirius trusts them both to let him take his time, no matter how impossible tight he will feel, impossibly hot, painfully so.
Even crying and shacking, James knows that Sirius trust them not break him.
Never. In anyway.
Love
When Remus pushes Sirius to sit against James' chest, and Remus is touching Sirius, and Sirius is around them, holding them close, it's perfect.
It's perfect when James dips his head to kiss one of Sirius' nipples, and Remus leans forward to kiss the other.
It's perfect when Sirius finally relaxes completely, body writhing, head lolling on James' shoulder.
It's perfect when Sirius starts moving faster, when his breath is coming faster, when Remus' hands moves faster.
It's perfect when Sirius arches his spine and comes, gasping and groaning, into Remus' hand and around them.
It's perfect when James follows.
Loyalty
Suddenly, Remus pulls Sirius to him, making James almost fall back, and, grasping the headboard, Sirius rides him until Remus holds him still and gasps.
Sirius then lies behind him, curling himself around Remus, and James feels suddenly awkward. Again, he's not supposed to be there. Again, this should be just between the other two.
'James?' Sirius calls, and gives him his hand.
Holding Remus against him and with his fingers intertwined with James', Sirius smiles and closes his eyes to sleep.
And James then knows he only needs three words to describe his best friend: friendship, love and loyalty.
The End
