The Veelas 05
Draco did not talk to Hermione for a week. They passed in the hallways, not even a smile was given. Draco found him getting sick of Emily. Whenever she smiled at him he wanted to scream. Whenever she talked to him he wanted to kick something. Whenever she kissed him he felt murderous.
The thought had crossed Draco's mind that he could be in love, but he dismissed it, laughing. Malfoys never fell in love, at least not for real.
***********************************
Draco ran through the forest screaming someone's name. Draco ran faster until he reached a certain spot. He stopped.
"I'm here," he whispered. "Now where are you?"
"I'm right here," said a voice from behind a tree. Draco smiled.
"I thought you would not show up."
"I'm here, what do you want?" the girl said. Draco continued to smile.
"I guess I called you here because I," he paused. "Because I love you Hermione." Draco moved swiftly and kissed Hermione. There was a scream.
Draco screamed. He was awake now. His heart was racing. He was on the floor, sheets tangled around him. He now noticed that Crabbe and Goyle were standing next to him.
"What are you doing on the floor?" they asked stupidly.
"I'm going for a walk," Draco said not answering their question. He grabbed his cloak and his invisibility cloak and left.
*********************************
Draco never really went for a walk. He walked into the library. He heard a page of a book turn. He was not the only one in the library. He took off the invisibility cloak and folded it silently.
"Whose there?" Draco said. He heard someone push a chair and then heard footsteps coming towards him.
"Hello."
"What are you doing here?" Draco asked. "Studying Hermione?"
"I just needed some time to think. Why are you here?" Hermione asked.
"Just going for a walk," Draco said truthfully.
"Oh, well see you." Hermione walked off.
"Bye." Draco stood there. He felt his heart fluttering. Why as he feeling like this?
***********************************
Draco did not get much sleep that night. He walked downstairs to breakfast late. It was a Saturday; so many people were sleeping still or out on the grounds. Emily pounced up to him.
"Good morning sweetie."
"Hello Emily," Draco said tonelessly. She went to kiss him, but Draco turned his cheek.
"Are you okay honey?" Emily asked.
"I'm fine, just..." Draco's voice trailed off. Hermione came in and she was not alone. Dangerously close to Hermione was Ron Weasley. Draco stared hard at Ron. Ron was brushing against Hermione smiling eagerly, like he was flirting....
Why the hell did Draco are about Granger and the Weasel? Nothing that was it. Nothing. He did not love Hermione.
Hermione was not his and he was not hers.
*******************************
Draco sat in the library, books surrounding him. Someone walked in. Draco looked up; it was Hermione, of course. They did not say anything to each other. Draco just watched her from behind his book. Behind his book was where he was safe. Behind his book was where he would stay. He would not walk up to Hermione and tell her what he felt. He would stay behind his book.
Draco stood up. I forced himself just to get another book, not to talk to Hermione. Draco walked right by Hermione. He got the book he needed. He walked right by Hermione and stopped. Hermione looked up.
"Hello. Anything I can do for you?" she asked. Draco found himself at a loss for words. He knew what he wanted to say, but he could just not bring himself to say it.
"Actually, Draco there was something I wanted to tell you myself." Draco barely managed to nod his head.
"Draco, I just have to say that I," Hermione closed her eyes. "Let me start over. Draco I just want to say that you seem different now." Draco stared at her; this was not what he was expecting.
"Hermione I-"
"That's it," Hermione cut Draco off.
"What is it?"
"What you just said. You called me something besides 'Granger' or 'mudblood'. For the first time you seem like my friend."
"You seem like my friend too," Draco said staring hard at the floor.
"Draco, look at me," Hermione said quietly. Draco looked up. There was the Hermione he had grown used to. Her straight brown hair, he warm brown eyes, and her cheery smile. There was a brief moment where both of them just stood there. The moment ended and Draco and Hermione were in a passionate embrace.
Draco had no clue what was going on, but he went with it and enjoyed it. It was wrong, but Draco only got more of a rush from it.
