"You what?" Hermione said. Draco stared at her. Had she not heard him the two times?

"I...am....going...to....break...up...with...Emily...and...I...need...your... help," Draco repeated slowly.

"Why?" Hermione asked quickly.

"I just don't see this going anywhere."

"Oh, do you have someone else in mind?" Hermione turned a deep red.

"There are some girls, why?" Draco asked hoping for a certain answer.

"What do you want my help for?" Hermione said ignoring Draco's question.

"I just need you to talk to her. Tell her what a terrible guy I am. You know girl talk," Draco said.

"You want me to tell her how terrible you are?"

"Yes. Now I know that is challenging considering that it is me and everything, but just do your best," Draco said smugly.

"Okay," Hermione said quietly. "I'll talk to her next time I see her."

"Great," Draco said happily. He touched Hermione on her shoulder. Hermione looked him in the eyes. "Thanks."

Before Hermione could react Draco leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was soft. No pressure for either one of them. Draco pulled away slowly. He looked at her for a brief second and then walked off.

"Oh my," Hermione said to herself.

Hermione had sent Emily owl. She was supposed to meet her in the library in one minute. Hermione paced nervously. She was still thinking about the kiss.

Draco had kissed her. Draco was also breaking up with his girlfriend. He would be available. Hermione shook her head. This was funny. She was in love with Draco Malfoy.

"Hello?" said a voice. It was Emily.

"Hi," Hermione said as she came into view.

"What do you want to talk about?" Emily asked while looking Hermione up and down.

"Well you see, it's about Draco-" Emily cut Hermione off.

"What about Draco?" she sneered.

"I have to tell you something Emily," Hermione said. "About Draco."

"Okay. What?"
"You see, this is not easy, well I saw Draco kissing another girl," Hermione put abruptly.

"You what?"

"I saw Draco kissing another girl," Hermione lied again.

"No, no he would never do that to me," Emily said. Tears sprung to Emily's eyes. She walked off her hand over her mouth. Hermione watched her leave. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh. She had done Draco his favor, and now he owed her one.

The next morning Hermione saw Emily and Draco's "conversation". Emily was furious and Draco got what he wanted, they broke up.

Now Hermione could not stop thinking about this kiss. Had he kissed her so that she would have something to say to make Emily mad? Or did he too feel something between them?

Hermione must have done it. Emily broke up with him. Emily said that she found out that he had kissed another girl.

Draco thought about the kiss. Had Hermioen thought that the kiss was only so she could tell Emily something?

Draco shook his head. That was why he kissed her, he told himself forcefully. It was.
