Chapter 1

Lily's Journal

Sept. 2nd

Yes! It happened! I am a Slytherin. I am no longer just another good little Potter or Weasley-brat.

At breakfast this morning I received an owl from Mother and Father. They both said they were upset about me being sorted into Slytherin and to not let my siblings bother me about it. Ha! Like they'll actually speak to me again... It doesn't matter; I have friends in this house.

Last night I met Ashley. He's Jacob and Anna's older brother. I can tell he's protective of Anna. I also met Jennifer (Jen for short) and Matthew (Matt) Zabini. Jen is really nice, so is Matt. Besides me, Jacob and Anna, Kim Goyle, John Nott and Jesse Baddock were also sorted into Slytherin. Kim has brown hair, brown eyes and is a little chubby. John has dark brown hair, green eyes and is about five foot six! Jesse is... well... a little strange! He's dyed his longish hair dark blue and has bright, piercing blue eyes! You can already tell he's a loner because he won't speak to anyone except his cat, Mischief.

Well I have to go down to dinner now but I will write more later.

Sept. 5th

I have concluded that Matt is going to be very protective of me. See yesterday at breakfast, my sister Sarah had the nerve to come up to me and ask me, "Why? Lilly, why did you get yourself sorted into Slytherin? All of them are good-for-nothing-dark-wizards!"

Well Matt heard her and he stood up and walked in front of us and told Sarah very calmly, "What do you think you're doing? Lilly is in Slytherin because she has the thirst and drive necessary to be in here. And unlike yourself, she wants to prove that she isn't just like all of her other brothers and sisters. So if you would be so kind, please go back to your table and try to not make a scene. Thank you. Lilly I saved you a spot next to Anna and me." I just looked at Sarah for a second, gave her a quick smirk, and followed Matt to where our seats were. I'm actually surprised James didn't come and try to act all 'big brother' on me.

Sept. 15th

In three days it will be James' birthday. I'll probably just send him a card or something. He has just to speak to me. Actually most of my 'family' has avoided me!

Jesse is actually a very nice boy. He spoke to me a few days ago when he found me and Mischief playing in the Common Room. The pure white cat was chasing a piece of string that I had charmed to follow my wand across the floor. When Jesse saw me playing with the cat he asked me, "How did you do that?"

I started at the sound because I didn't expect anyone to speak to me and told him, "I just charmed the string to follow my wand..."

Jesse looked at me weird for a second and then said, "No. How did you get Mischief to play with the string? She usually wont let anyone but my mom or me touch her."

" Oh. I don't know. I just petted her and started to get her to chase the string," I replied to him blushing.

Jesse looked at me closely and finally said, "There must be something special about you... My name's Jesse Baddock by the way, but my mom calls me Jess."

"My name is Lily... you can call me whatever you want," I replied shrugging, "I don't really mind. It's nice to meet you Jess."

After that we ended up talking for a full two hours about our classes and which teachers we liked the best. Jess likes Professor Snape, too, but he said he was bad at Charms so I agreed to help him in that subject. I think Jesse and I are going to be great friends.
