Oliver's Girl

For the next few weeks, Oliver and Ren spent all of their free time together. They practiced Quidditch at the same time and met in the Common Room late at night to snog and talk to themselves. They found that they had a lot in common. They loved Quidditch with a passion, listened to music to calm them, and both had the same tastes in food. They sat together in class, but still socialized with their other friends. They both got the same fluttering in their stomachs when the other was near. One was always talking about the other, and thought about each other all the time. They stole kisses when no one was around. They snuck each other glances and love owls at breakfast.

One day Fred and George decided to say something. They were walking to Quidditch practice a day before the Hufflepuff game.

"You know, you don't have to hide it," Fred said.

Serenity looked at him with a confused look. "What do you mean?"

George chuckled. "We know already. Just admit it."

"Admit what?"

Fred smiled. "We know that you have a weakness towards... oh, let's say... Quidditch captains?"

Serenity stopped walking and looked at him in disbelief. "I... don't know what you're talking about..."

George looked around suspiciously and pulled her away behind a tree. "We...um..." he sighed. "Well, you know how we like our midnight snacks..."

Serenity gave him a questioning look and he raised his eyebrows, begging her to understand so he wouldn't have to say it out loud. Unfortunately, Ren was pretty slow that day.

He sighed. "Well, Fred and I, a few nights ago... we went downstairs to get something from the kitchens..."

Ren's eyes got as big as Galleons. She looked at the ground and blushed.

"I mean, we already knew, but this was just proof."

Fred said, "I guess you could say that the evidence has been 'tampered with'."

She laughed and hugged him. They smiled and headed off to the Quidditch field, Fred with a sign on his back that said 'Kick me, I'm Gryffindor'.

Serenity woke the next day a little later than usual. She picked up her things and prayed that there wasn't a line for the shower. She climbed out of the portrait hole and walked down the hall. She was turning the corner and saw Oliver talking to Katie Bell... the Chaser she had replaced. She knew it was wrong to snoop, but her inner Gryffindor was calling her for mischief and curiosity. She turned back around the corner and listened to the two.

"Are you sure you don't want me back?" It was Katie's voice.

"I'm sure. I really like her."

"Why!? What does she have that I don't!?"

"Look, Katie, if you're not happy with my decision, then it's your problem."

"I'm sure I could change your mind..."

Serenity gasped and ran down the hall back to the Common Room.

When she got through the portrait hole, Fred and George were just heading out, bed head and all.

"What's wrong?" they asked in unison.

She didn't say anything. She just kept running. Straight up to her room where she flung herself on her bed and closed the curtains so no one would question her.

An hour later, at nine o'clock, she dragged herself up out of bed. She picked up her broom and headed for the locker room. She'd take a shower after the game. She arrived a few minutes into Oliver's speech. He paused to smile just for a moment, but went straight back to discussing his strategy. She took a seat between Fred and George. George looked up at her. His eyes were questioning her. "Are you all right? What happened? Do you want to talk about it?" She gave a weak smile and rested her head on Fred's shoulder. She sighed and wished Oliver would just hurry up. Suddenly his voice wasn't so soothing anymore.

The Quidditch game went somewhat well. Of course, how could they lose against Hufflepuff? Although they won, Serenity's performance was horrible. Everyone knew it, though no one seemed to care. She just wanted to get away. To get back to her room. Directly after their victory, she ran across the field to the locker room. She shedded her robes and picked up her things. She ran up to Gryffindor tower. She snatched her toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, and shampoo. She ran down the hall to the lion painting. Luckily, she didn't come across anyone.

Twenty minutes later she was heading down the hall back to the Common Room. She took a deep breath before entering the portrait hole. Sure enough, the party had already started. She made her way slowly through the crowd. It took her five minutes just to get to the base of the girls' stairs. She entered her room and sat down at her desk. She laid her head down and tried not to cry. Quidditch kept her mind off of the situation, but now it was inevitable. She had had to pass Oliver and Katie, talking together, again.

A few minutes later she heard the door open. "Probably just ditzy Parvati coming to fix her silly makeup," she thought miserably. But soon enough, someone's arms were wrapped around her. She turned around... it was George. He looked in her eyes, and she just couldn't take it. Tears began flowing down her cheeks. He stood there until she eventually quieted down.

"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked.

"No. Not now anyways..."

"But when you're ready... you'll tell me?"

She sniffed. "Yeah."

He hugged her. "All right. Well, I've got to get back down to the party. If you need anything, let me know."

"'Kay."

"You coming down?"

She shook her head.

"Are you sure? Gryffindors are known for their parties," he said jokingly.

She smiled. "Or so I've heard."

"All right. G'night."

"'Night."

When he'd left, she climbed into bed. Sleep never seemed so heavenly.
