ANGELS
I SIT AND WAIT DOES AN ANGEL CONTEMPLATE MY FATE AND DO THEY KNOW
THE PLACES WHERE WE GO
WHEN WE'RE GREY OLD 'COS I HAVE BEEN TOLD
THAT SALVATION LETS THEIR WINGS UNFOLD
Harry sat in his room at Privet Drive looking at the pieces of broken mirror. The mirror Sirius given to him and he'd forgot about it. Harry hated himself for that. Many 'What ifs' filled his mind. Harry felt lost without Sirius. He'd been in his life such a short period of time, but was the closest thing he had to a father.
Putting the broken piece into a bag, he placed them in his trunk. Sighing loudly, Harry sat on his bed and picked up the nearest book. It was the summer holidays, but Harry didn't feel much like doing anything 'fun'. His friends were all away enjoying themselves he thought. Harry couldn't remember what feeling happy felt like and didn't care if he ever did again.
SO WHEN I'M LYING ON MY BED
THOUGHTS RUNNING THROUGH MY HEAD
AND I FEEL THE LOVE IS DEAD
I'M LOVING ANGELS INSTEAD
Harry didn't know when he'd fallen asleep, but he was aware that he was dreaming. Half way between consciousness and sleep, trapped in a dream he couldn't get out of. Sirius was there, he was speaking to him, but however hard he tried to, he couldn't hear him. Sirius was trying to tell him something, but what was it? Taking of his spectacles and wiping them clean, he replaced them and stared at Sirius' mouth.
Suddenly Harry was awoken to the sound of Uncle Vernon shouting at him to get up, supper was ready. He opened his eyes, squinting because of the bedroom light, Harry realised what Sirius had been saying to him. Hermione.
AND THROUGH IT ALL SHE OFFERS ME PROTECTION
A LOT OF LOVE AND AFFECTION
WHETHER I'M RIGHT OR WRONG
Harry ate his supper quickly and returned to his room as soon as the dishes were all washed and dried.
Hermione was his best friend and always knew the right things to say. She was intelligent and kind and sympathetic and dependable. Not that Ron wasn't a good friend to him also, but sometimes he just couldn't talk to him about the problems that worried him. Hermione was always there for him and gave him advice when he needed it.
Harry took out a piece of parchment and started to write to Hermione. Normally it was so easy, but for some reason it seemed awkward now. Many scrumpled pieces of parchment littered the floor, but Harry had finally composed a letter he was happy with. Rolling it up and tying it to Hedwig's leg, Harry took a deep breath and opened the bedroom window.
Harry watched Hedwig fly off into the distance until she vanished out of sight. He wondered how long it would take Hermione to reply.
AND DOWN THE WATERFALL
WHEREVER IT MAY TAKE ME
I KNOW THAT LIFE WON'T BREAK ME
WHEN I COME TO CALL SHE WON'T FORSAKE ME
I'M LOVING ANGELS INSTEAD
Harry didn't have to wait for Hedwig to return to hear from Hermione. Uncle Vernon came stomping up the stairs and barged into his bedroom to tell him he had a telephone call. Racing down the stairs, he quickly grabbed the phone from Dudley. Hermione had just got his letter, she told him and phoned straight away as it was quicker. She suggested they meet up the following afternoon in London. Her father was going and she would get a lift with him. They made arrangements to meet at The Leaky Cauldron at 2pm. She wanted to speak to him also, but didn't want to speak over the phone. Harry could feel the Dursley's staring at him, wondering who was calling him at home. He wondered what Hermione had said to Uncle Vernon when she called, but didn't bother asking and returned to his bedroom.
WHEN I'M FEELING WEAK
AND MY PAIN WALKS DOWN A ONE WAY STREET
I LOOK ABOVE
AND I KNOW I'LL ALWAYS BE BLESSED WITH LOVE
Harry boarded the train to London and was amazed at the amount of witches and wizards aboard the train. He'd become so accustomed with the wizarding world, that they didn't seem out of place. In fact he felt comforted by the fact his own kind were surrounding him. Glancing out of the window, Harry was sure he'd seen a shooting star.
AND AS THE FEELING GROWS
SHE BREATHES FLESH TO MY BONES
AND WHEN LOVE IS DEAD I'M LOVING
ANGELS INSTEAD
Harry arrived at The Leaky Cauldron half an hour early, so he decided to get a drink for himself. Hermione was already there, waiting for him. Typical Hermione, always punctual.
She looked so different, yet the same. He couldn't understand how or what he was feeling. Hermione hadn't noticed his arrival, so he took a moment to really look at Hermione.
AND THROUGH IT ALL SHE OFFERS ME PROTECTION
A LOT OF LOVE AND AFFECTION
WHETHER I'M RIGHT OR WRONG
Harry approached Hermione apprehensively. She must have sensed his arrival because she stood, throwing her arms around him, she enveloped him and kissed him lightly on the cheek. Without realising it, Harry had started to sob. He felt embarrassed, but Hermione led him by the hand into a private room. Harry just let everything out, how he felt since Sirius' death and absolute emptiness and hopelessness he'd felt. He told her about his dream and finally how he felt about her.
AND DOWN THE WATERFALL
WHEREEVER IT MAY TAKE ME
I KNOW THAT LIFE WON'T BREAK ME
WHEN I COME TO CALL SHE WON'T FORSAKE ME
I'M LOVING ANGELS INSTEAD
"I love you, Hermione; you're my soul mate, my earthly Angel."
"I love you too, Harry."
THE END
