Prologue: Part One

Five Thousand Years Ago

The City of Avaloni Atlantis, The Palace

With a swish of flapping skirt, Virginia swung around and marched out of the conferance room. She gritted her teeth in anger.

"How dare they!" she exclaimed bitterly.

The black and silver silk of her gown rushed harshly against the smooth texture of her skin. It stung enough to make her stop and straighten them out.

The brief pause gave a young man long enough to catch up with her.

"My Queen, please, halt!" he shouted out as he moved beside her.

"Senator Malfoy, I do not take lightly to being told what to do. So, I implore you, move away and let me pass."

Her voice was chilling and her eyes bore into his with a placate , cool look. She frowned at his disobedience.

He simply started to speak in a calm, quiet manner.

"Queen Virginia, listen to what we have to say. Your research into the Correleum structure is causing some sort of disruptance in our shield. If it breaks, your highness, there will be nothing of us left."

    Virginia shook her head.

"This is a monarchy, Senator. I feel the need to remind you so that you might remind the other council members. You are simply my advisors, not my equals. I am queen! This is my land! I will do what I please."

With those words she turned her back to him and sway away.

She did not care what it was doing to the city's barrier! It were older than the correleum itself. They would not break.

The correleum. What she would give to know it's purpose! The power that radiated from it was magnificant, however, she could not touch it. It pulsated with raw energy and she would not stop until she figured out how to access it.

Virginia swept down the corridors until she reached the teleporting room.

"Open for the Queen!" a young soldier bellowed. The doors swung open to his demand.

As she stepped through her mind was already beginning to wonder.

"The Correleum," she spoke idly. She barely felt the pull as she was swept into abyss and then placed beside the structure.

Three triangular shaped stones sat in front of her. The stone was a strange shade, a glittering silver. In it were etched unknown symbols. Virginia had researched and studied her whole life and could still not decipher them.

She looked up into the sky and sighed. Why could she not figure it out! She probed at it slightly with her powers and felt it respond as it always did. Just out of reach.

She flippantly took out her knife and began to fiddle with it. She walk the correleum slowly. She stared at the hierglyphics as she walked. Nothing.

She flopped down in a very unqueenlike manner and began to mutter to herself. She accidently turned the knife against her hand. A gush of blood swelled up and flooded over the blade. She growled in fury.

Standing up in anger she twirled around to the stones and threw the knife. The blade landed into the ground directly in the middle.

"Arcadia, help me! Tell me what this is!" she hollered in frustration.

She started to walk away and then stopped as the air in her lungs tightened. She gasped for air and her hand flew to her heart as it began to beat faster and faster....

"You called, My daughter!" a voice boomed from the heavens. Virginia gasped aloud.

"You asked what it was and I shall tell you!" The voice grew louder and shriller.

"In fact I shall show you, daughter! Just know and trust that you have been chosen! I have chosen you! You are now mine! Thru your greed and lust for power you have destroyed your own nation! Thru that I have made you part of night! Your power is over night and blood! You shall be reborn!"

Virginia felt the very bones and flesh of her body began to tear as magick filled her every being. She watched as the correleum burst into flames and flooded the sky with light. Horror filled her as the fire began to sweep her city. The earth shook and filled with cracks.

She watched as the barrier began to crack and suddenly burst open. Water spilled in and swept through the land. She began to sob as she watched everyone run and scream in terror.

Then finally, as her beautiful palace crumbled to the ground, flames engulfed her and she began to burn as well.

Five Thousand Years Ago

The Temple of Avery, The High Chamber

The night breeze blew softly against the silk, translucent curtains. The silver crescent moon glowed over the balcony, basking it in a gentle light. Somewhere disant a soft melody of a unique instrument could be heard upon the air.

A woman wearing a simple, white shift sighed into the night. She was saddened by a deep feeling of dread that sat inside her stomach. Something would happen soon and she was afraid her death would come by it.

"Lady Aislinn, Tenelope is here as summoned," Alista, her handmaid, spoke from inside.

Lady Aislinn turned her head slightly.

    "Send her to me."

"As you wish, High Priestess." Alista backed out of the room with her head bowed.

A few seconds later a young woman with long, raven hair walked out on the balcony. She tossed her hair arrogantly and spoke in a haughty voice.

    "My Lady."

Lady Aislinn turned to face the girl. She surveyed her appearance carefully. Tenelope's eyes shifted around almost anxiously. She seemed apprehensive a bit, but her eyes spoke of some triumph.

"Tenelope, child. I have seen you rise to the top of your classes despite your poverty-stricken background. I am pleased with your success. I do not know if you have noticed the extra attention you have recieved as of late, but it was at my command," Aislinn began quietly.

    Tenelope watched her without reaction.

Aislinn looked her dead in the eyes, "You have been preparing to take my place as High Priestess. I feel that my time has been rapidly deteriorating and I decided to make my decision. Do you feel capable of it?"

Tenelope seemed to consider for a moment, "I do."

Aislinn smiled, "Good, tommorow morning you will be initiated as my protege. Now, go to bed and get rest. Everything changes tommorow."

"Yes, My lady." Tenelope bowed her head and backed out of the room.

Aislinn turned back to the sky.

"Bless me, Arcadia, for I am frightened. Watch over my people and bring no destruction. If there must be death, then let it be mine."

Turning she walked back into the room and fell upon the canopy bed. No sooner than her head hit the pillow sleep swept over her and she began to dream.

As she fell deeper and deeper into her sleep a light shimmered around the bed. Another woman appeared. A soft hue of light swept around her as she placed her hand on Aislinn's forhead.

"I have chosen you, my child. You are now my own. You sleep now, not knowing it is your last time. When you awake you will not be as you are now, but reborn as dawn in a new life as a true priestess of magick with my blessing. Know yourself now as Arcadia's child."
