Chapter Ten

Hermione walked into the quarters and slammed the door behind her. "That bad, huh?" Draco assumed.

"You could say that," Hermione said, wiping a tear from her eye.

"How bad?"

"Dreadful. Harry is absolutely furious."

"It's not completely your fault though."

"Actually, he took that news rather well." Draco looked a bit confused, so Hermione explained. "He knows about us and he was a bit angry."

"Oh no."

"Exactly," Hermione agreed. "Draco, there's something else."

"What?" Draco asked nervously.

"Parvati and Lavender sort of overheard Harry and I."

"How much do they know?"

"Just about our relationship. They don't know about me."

"Well, there's some good news. Exactly what happened? I want full detail."

Hermione tried to summarize what had happened. By the end of it, Hermione's eyes were red and puffy, and her skirt was stained with tears.

"Snog me, huh?" Draco teased. "Why didn't you tell me? I would have been more than happy to give you a little Malfoy action!"

Hermione chuckled through her tears.

There was a tapping from the window across the room. Hermione glanced at the window and immediately recognized the owl. It belonged to Ron. Hermione hopped off the bed and threw open the window. Pig crash-landed on Draco's bed, looking exhausted.

Hermione snatched the letter away from the owl and read it.

Dear Hermione,

Harry is sorry. I would like to talk to you, in person. I'm just writing to let you know I am on my way. Please be there.

-Ron

Hermione looked up from the letter. "Draco?" she called across the room. "Do you think you could leave for about an hour or so?"

"Why?" Draco asked curiously.

"Well, Ron wants to talk to me and we would like to talk privately, if that's okay."

"I guess I can find someone to torment for an hour."

"Thank you so much," she said and planted a kiss on his cheek.

Draco smiled and left the room, blowing her a kiss before he closed the door.

Knock, Knock, Knock

"Come in!" Hermione called.

The door slowly creaked open. "Hello," Ron said.

"Hello," Hermione answered. There was an eerie silence as Ron walked over and sat down next to Hermione.

"So, er- Harry told me about your talk," Ron said, breaking the silence.

"I reckon he sent you with a message?"

"Well, yes, he said he's sorry."

"Well, you can tell him that him that I want to hear it directly from him and him to actually mean it."

"Bloody Hell, now I know how Pig feels," Ron muttered. "So, Harry said you told Malfoy."

"Yes. I knew you'd take his side! Why did you even bother coming?" Hermione yelled.

"I'm not taking his side!" Ron tried to defend himself.

"Sorry, I just have these random outbursts sometimes," Hermione apologized.

"It's okay. I'm used to it. My mom does that all the time, and she's not even pregnant."

Hermione let out a small giggle.

"Why did Harry get so angry, though?" Hermione asked.

"He's just a little frustrated. He wasn't expecting this."

"And I was? He's not the one who will have to deal with mocking or whispers behind his back." As soon as Hermione said that, she wished she could take her words back. That's Harry's life. This is everyday stuff for him.

"Bloody Hell," Hermione muttered. "How could I be so stupid?"

"You're not stupid," Ron said. "Your mouth just reacts faster than your mind."

Hermione nodded. "Ron, Draco's changed. Harry doesn't think so, but I know he has."

Ron nodded. "If you think he has, then I believe you."
