Chapter Four

After they ate dinner, they both dressed for bed. Hermione walked out of the bathroom, wearing a red tank top that was way too tight to wear in public, and black sweatpants.

Draco was wearing green knickers that had the Slytherin seal on them.

"Eww," Hermione muttered, looking at the knickers.

"What are you wearing?" Draco asked, overwhelmed by Hermione's revealing outfit.

"I didn't know I would have to sleep in the same room as you, so I brought the first pair of pajamas I could find."

"You hoped you'd be sleeping in the same room as Potter though," Draco teased. "He'd probably fall over and die. If dementors make him faint, I wonder what this would do to him."

"If that was a compliment, thank you. If that was an insult, shut it, Malfoy. My wand is in my trunk. Do you want to be 'Malfoy the Bouncing Ferret' again?"

Draco immediately zipped his lips and turned away.

Hermione scurried towards her trunk, carrying all of her toiletries in her arms. She opened the trunk and dropped her shampoo bottle. Draco looked toward her. He looked as though he was going to get up and pick up the bottle for her, but stopped and just watched it roll toward his bed.

Hermione placed her other toiletries in her trunk and dashed after it and bent down to pick it up. Draco's eyes followed her chest, which her top allowed to show too much of. Hermione looked at him. His cheeks turned an abnormal shade of pink, and he turned away to avoid a confrontation, but Hermione couldn't help herself.

"Did I just see a Malfoy blush?" Hermione asked, astonished by this.

"No!" Draco denied it.

"Well, then you're wearing quite a bit of make-up," Hermione taunted him.

"Okay, fine, I was blushing," Draco admitted quickly. "I don't need rumors going around that I wear make-up. Next thing you know, they'll say I wear Neville's grandmother's dress and crazy vulture hat," Draco said nervously, "and carry around a large red handbag, like that boggart in Lupin's class."

"Does that mean that you'll admit that you were looking at my chest?"

"Are you crazy? I'd never hear the end of it."

"So, you were looking at my chest?" Hermione inquired, curious at what his answer would be.

"I- er, well," Draco stammered.

"I see, good night, Draco," she interrupted him, as she climbed in bed.

"Did you just call me Draco, instead of Malfoy?" Draco asked.

"Yes, I think I did. I must be slipping," Hermione said pleasantly as she pulled the covers over her and turned out the light next to her bed.

There was a long silence.

"Good night, Hermione," Draco called.

Hermione smiled to herself. Maybe living here wouldn't be won't be that bad. Dumbledore's right, we just need to get to know each other.

Hermione shut her eyes and imagined Draco's face if he found out she had borrowed his owl. "Nice," she whispered. He won't be happy when he finds that out...
