The Mudblood and the Dragon

Chapter Two

"Harry, we can't see each other anymore, my parents found out about us," Hermione told Harry as tears streamed down her face. "They know the whole reason you've stayed here all summer and they want you to leave. They've already gotten in touch with Mr. and Mrs. Weasley and they think it' best if you stay there the rest of the summer."

Harry's face saddened at these words.

"I hope we can still be friends, like before," Hermione added.

Harry nodded slightly. "I can only picture you in my arms, Hermione. I don't like the idea of breaking up with you, but I'll still hold you in my heart. You'll always be my little Hunny Bunny and I'll always love you."

Hermione sat up in bed. She had that dream since the day her and Harry broke up over the summer. It was horrible. Everything in her dream had happened that summer and she couldn't stand it. Her parents had just found out about their relationship and had forced them to break up. She hadn't spoken to her parents since that day, and Hermione's heart had ached since then.

Hermione suddenly remembered that she was not alone. She couldn't say anything private, not with Draco around. Hermione glanced towards the fire where it was dimly lit. There was a head in the fire, just as Sirius's had done in their fourth and fifth year at Hogwarts. However, this was not the head of Sirius Black. Instead, it was a woman. Better yet, it was a Malfoy. Narcissa Malfoy.

"How is father?" Hermione heard. She suddenly noticed that Draco was sitting on the floor next to the fireplace, talking to his mother.

"The dementors have sent him to St. Mungo's. I'm sorry I couldn't visit sooner, but I didn't know whether it was safe, well, with that girl in the room with you," Narcissa said, motioning at Hermione, who had lay back down in her bed to avoid being seen by Narcissa or Draco.

Hermione remembered that Lucius Malfoy, Draco's father, was sent to Azkaban during their fifth year because he was a Death Eater.

"How bad is it?" Draco asked.

"He screams louder than any of the other prisoners. He's been driven insane," Narcissa said. Noticing Draco's sad expression as he lowered his head, she added. "It's the fate of anyone who is sent to Azkaban."

Draco nodded slightly.

"Well, dear, I need to contact St. Mungo's, I will be in touch," Narcissa said before her head disappeared from the fireplace with a small pop.

Draco stood up. Hermione quickly stretched out on her bed and acted as though she were sleeping.

Draco walked past her bed and kicked the bookcase before he entered the bathroom and slammed the door.

That's what was in the owl that made Draco so upset. He was crying! And Lucius Malfoy is in St. Mungo's! Wait until I tell- Just then, Hermione remembered that she wouldn't see Harry and Ron for a week. No! I have to tell them.

Hermione glimpsed at the window. Draco's owl sat perched on the windowsill. She pulled out a quill and scribbled a note on a spare bit of parchment.

Dear Harry and Ron,

I'm stuck in my quarters with Malfoy. His father went insane in Azkaban and is now in St. Mungo's. For more information, send back Hedwig. I stole Malfoy's owl, so I hope this reaches you.

Love, Hermione

Hermione tied the note securely to the owl's leg and told it, "Send this to Harry Potter."

The owl obediently flew out the window, soaring towards the Great Hall. Please reach Harry and Ron.
