"Magic Crossed Lovers"

It was a lonely night in the castle. Many of the students had gone home for Christmas, except the chosen few who stayed for different reasons, leaving the corridors silent, except for the occasional wail of a ghost. Ginny sat alone in the library, bent over a paper on the purpose of bat wings in an elixir of death, assigned by Snape over the break. She had just finished two rolls of parchment when the ghostly staff took over for the day library staff. She never liked the ghostly staff for they creped her out, so she threw everything into her bag and darted out in the corridor. She exited the hall and stopped to wait for the staircase to return which would lead her back to the Gryffindor Dormitory. She ascended the stairs to the top floor, but heard a distant voice from below. She turned and looked over the banister to see Draco walking up to the second floor. He didn't have the same stride in his step he usually had, so Ginny ascended the stairs to meet him. She got to the fourth floor when he finally saw her.

"What are you looking at, Weasley?" he barked, whipping his face, which looked dampened as though he was crying.

"What's wrong Draco?" she asked, stepping down a step. He looked up at her, his piercing grey eyes nearly knocking her over. She had never noticed how stunning his eyes were until the fiery glow of the lit candle shone on them.

"None of your business!" He pushed passed her and climbed the stairs to the fifth floor.

"I can't let him leave with all that anger!" she thought to herself.

"Bottled up, with secrets so many allow my words to pierce, the psychic barrier!" she recited, pointing her wand at Draco's back. A green spark shot from the tip and hit Draco in the back. He stopped and turned around.

"What was..." He stopped as though he had just noticed her.

"Oh, Ginny, what happened?" he asked, as though he didn't believe she had done anything.

"Draco, are you okay?" she asked, as he approached her.

"I am fine, yet I can't keep this secret," he said taking her hands in his. Her eyebrows flew up in confusion as he kissed her little hand.

"I fear that I have fallen in love with a loathed enemy. As in Romeo and Juliet, the families torn apart by disagreement, their two children are born to love one another." Ginny looked at Draco as though he was crazy. But she couldn't help feel flattered by what he was saying. She pushed passed him and walked up the stairs.

"Ginny, you are my love! And I know you feel the same way!" he yelled up to Ginny, who had reached the top stairs.

"Balderdash! This is a spell! Your words hold no love!" A tear slide down her cheek. Draco saw this and stepped up the stairs.

"Give me a kiss and the spell will cease to exist. A kiss, I only ask, to show my affection for you." He quizzed, taking her hands. Her eyes were watery as she glared into his silver eyes. He leaned in close to her as put his soothing lips to Ginny's. A wave of white light exploded around them and when it cleared, Draco embraced Ginny and continued to kiss her. When he pulled away, Ginny was sure he was going to throw a fit, but all he did was smile and kiss her once more. Ginny pushed away from him and ran back up the stairs.

"Ginny where do you run?" he shouted, outstretching his hands as to pull back into his embrace.

"I can't handle this tonight! How can I love a despised enemy? Your family wishes disorder on my family and mine the same! How could our love be strong enough than the hate our families bestow of each other?" she cried, halting by the large door leading to the Gryffindor corridor. Draco stepped up to the next landing, but was stopped.

"No, Draco, do not move! I fear if you do, I will not have to strength to leave you!" she sobbed opening the door.

"I will not forget this, young Ginny. And I have a feeling you will not forget the love you possess for me! For now, goodnight! But tomorrow is another day for our love." She pushed into the corridor and ran to the common room. She was crying so much that she forgot to say the password and ran straight into the magical barrier over the door.

"Dammit!" she screeched, pushing herself off the ground.

"Young lady, there is no need for the language!" the fat lady said, awakening from her slumber.

"Flubber Worm!" she said the password and shot threw the door up to the girl's dormitory. She threw herself to the bed and cried herself to sleep. But as she cried she kept asking herself one question.

"Did she really possess the same love for Draco that he did her?"

The next morning was Christmas and she awoke to Hermione pushing on her shoulder.

"Ginny, calm on, Ron and Harry are already opening gifts." She picked her head up and threw the covers off. She placed her bare feet into her slippers and threw on her robe. She followed Hermione down the curved staircase from the girl's dormitory and into the warm common room to find it full of presents. Hermione left her side and sat down beside Harry. Ron kissed her forehead and then sat back down beside Luna who he snuck into the common room. They had been dating for three months, ever since Ron noticed her beauty. They exchanged gifts with one another; Harry gave her a new wand case, made of vinyl cloth with her name in glowing letters on it, Ron gave her a new diary, Luna gave her a new case of magical hair ties, which could make any hairstyle, and Hermione gave her a new spell book on love spells.

"Oh Harry!" she said, her wand pointed in the air. He looked up and saw mistletoe above them. He pulled her to his lap and kissed her. Everyone giggled, but they were used to it by now. Since nearly losing Hermione in their Fifth year, Harry has not let her out of his sight. Ron got out of Luna's embrace and began to clean up.

"Hey what's this?" he picked up a small box and read the card.

"Ginny, it's for you." She tossed it over to her and she caught it. She pulled the card off and opened the envelope.

"My dearest Ginny

I wish you the best Christmas ever. I fear our conversation last night, failed to show my love for you. But when you realize that our families have no say in our love, come to me. I am not going anywhere. To promise you this, I am giving you this gift. When you realize I love you with all my heart, this locket with open with a burst of white light. Don't hide from love

Your dearest,

Draco"

She opened the box's top and pull out a heart-shaped silver locket. A glowing red heart was sculpted on the front and it barely weighed a pound.

"Oh! It's pretty!" Hermione shouted from Harry's lap.

"Yeah, who gave it to you? Neville?" Ron teased. Ginny just stared at the locket. She felt a tear graze her cheek and fall to the floor. She pushed off the ground and called her hand.

"Whoa! Ginny, Ron didn't mean it!" Luna, screeched, thinking she was going to do something to Ron. Ginny ignore her.

"Accio Broomstick!" Her broomstick flew down the stair from the dormitory and she climbed onto it. The others looked at her in confusion and as though she was insane.

"Alohomora!" She yelled at the window, which burst open, sending a wind of winter chill into the room. She zoomed out into that cold winter day to look for the one she truly loved.

She whizzed over the grounds, diving to the grounds to look around for him, and then soaring back into the skies for a better view. She skated across the frozen surface of the lake and lifted off back into the chilly sky. High above the ground, she saw the Kelly green of a Slytherin winter cap. She quickly shot down to the ground and jumped off her broom. But to her fortune, it was Crabbe, one of Draco's cronies.

"What do you want Gryffindor?" he growled in his monotone voice. Ginny threw down her broom and whipped out her wand. She ran up to Crabbe and put it against his neck.

"Tell me where Draco is!" She ordered. Crabbe began to shake violently with the tip of her wand inches from his neck.

"He's atop the highest peak on the grounds! Been there since last night!" she pulled it away and picked up her broom.

"Memorosa!" she shouted, the tip of her wand pointed at Crabbe. He ducked for cover as a blue beam of light shot at his forehead. When it disappeared, he didn't remember a thing. She took off into the sky once again and flew furiously to where her love resided.

She flew through the air until her feet touched the fresh blanket of snow which had appeared overnight atop the mountain. She walked only for a little before she found a small hut with smoke billowing from the top. She walk to the door and knocked. There was no answer. She turned the knob on the door and entered the warm hut. A fire billowed smoke out the chimney and a cot lay in the corner. She walked over to the bedside table and looked at the stuff on it. She picked up a picture frame and stopped breathing. A picture of her giggling with her friends was in the frame. Draco had used the movement film so she constantly giggled to the joke of her friend. Curved on the frame was a poem etched in by Draco.

"To my love, the one I want to hold, to caress and kiss, the one which hurts me to miss." A tear fell down her freckled filled cheek and then fell to the floor. She placed the frame back to the table and walked out the back door. There she saw him, standing at the mountain's edge, throwing rose petals into the wind. She wanted to run up behind him and give him the biggest hug she could manage, but she heard him talking.

"Was I right to bombard her with my love? She probably hates me and any minute now she'll have Potter and Weasley up here to kick my ass." Ginny beckoned herself to speak.

"Now what kind of person would I be if I did that?" she questioned. He turned around in fascination. She smiled at him and he approached him.

"I mean what kind of love would I be if I sent my friends to beat up the one I hold close to my heart? You were right last night. I was afraid of my family and yours, but now I only want to be held by you, and only you!" She jumped into his arms and planted a soft kiss to his lips. A wave of warmth washed over her as he carried her back into the warm sultry hut.
