A Cho Chang Story

Chapter Two

The day was November 1^st and the weather could not be any more different than the first of September. Although it was quite cold, the sky was a cheerful blue and the sun was shining and gleaming brightly over the castle. Everyone was out and about on the Hogwarts grounds during their free period, frolicking around and having as much fun as possible before the winter season came and covered the thick, green grass with a blanket of snow. Everyone that is, besides Cho Chang. Cho was thrown atop her canopy bed in her otherwise deserted dormitory crying and sobbing uncontrollably. It had been about an hour since her break period had started.

She hadn't been feeling well all morning, so after her early afternoon Transfiguration Class, she had ventured down to the Hospital Wing hoping to get a potion to soothe her oppressing headache and stomach cramping. When she arrived at the Hospital Wing her time of dread began...

*FLASHBACK*

"Madame Pomfrey?" Cho called into the supposedly empty chamber. No answer. "Hello? Madame Pomfrey? Are you in here?" she called a bit louder.

At that moment, the nurse came bustling out of her office at top speed.

"Ahh...Hello Miss Chang! What do you call upon me for?" Madame Pomfrey asked kindly.

"Um..." Cho began. "I just haven't been feeling well since this morning, that's all... I was hoping you'd have something for me."

"Oh, alright dearie... Well, let's get to the bottom of your ailment, shall we? Why don't you lie on this bed?" said Madame Pomfrey, pointing to a close-by hospital cot.

Cho immediately laid down on the hospital wing bed. Her lower stomach was beginning to pain even worse now, and she hoped lying down would help to relax it a bit. As soon as she was situated, Madame Pomfrey came out of her office with a quill and clipboard in her hand. She sat in a chair she had summoned to her right by Cho's bed.

"Okay now Miss Chang. What are some of your symptoms?" Madame Pomfrey asked her, and it seemed that when it was asked, her stomach and head began to pain and ache even worse that before, as if telling her not to forget to mention them.

"Well..." Cho began. "My lower stomach is cramped, I have a splitting headache, and I've had a few dizzy spells earlier today." Madame Pomfrey quickly jotted down brief notes of Cho's words and examined what she had written.

"Cho? Have you had any sexual activity in the past few months? Since August or so?" Madame Pomfrey asked wondering. Cho was hesitant. She specifically told Cedric she wouldn't tell anybody about it, but since this was health-related, she figured it was important.

"Yes..." Cho said softly. "At the end of August." Madame Pomfrey simply stared at her with a look of nervousness on her face.

"Well then... I suppose I am inclined to give you one of these then... just to be sure of course... you can go to your dormitory and take it there... come back later and tell me the results."

"Alright, Madame Pomfrey... thank you" Cho said kindly, getting up. She walked slowly to her dorm.

Cho had taken the test. That was over with and I guess you could consider that a plus. After all, Cho's life was full of positives, and Cho loved positives. There was only one positive thing she didn't like, yet it was sitting right in front of her as positive as it could possibly be.

It was a pregnancy test. Cho was pregnant.
