Fire

Draco_Ginny426

Story Summary:
Draco’s constant aching was the only thing that kept him alive, its stinging reminding him to breathe for every moment he struggled to exist. He couldn’t sleep, he barely ate, yet he felt as though he had slept for a thousand years, and eaten a hundred hearty meals just that day. Though the ice that was embedded so deep in his soul kept him cold, indifferent, and utterly passive; a new flame had sprung to life in him. Its crimson flames were so hot, that he thought he would explode at any given moment; simply burst into flames and singe everything in sight. This fire had a name... and it was Ginny Weasley.

The amber flames licked at Draco’s insides, burning a scorching path through him, singing everything so deep within, yet he was so numb, he could feel nothing but a bitter, biting cold. It felt like he had done nothing but merely exist for days, weeks, maybe even an eternity; he had lost all sense of time in no time at all. Draco’s constant aching was the only thing that kept him alive, its stinging reminding him to breathe for every moment he struggled to exist.             Draco watched her with an ugly sneer as she passed, his lips curling unpleasantly in his trademark disgusted expression as she floated by. She returned his grimace with a rude hand gesture, and an equally disgusted face, but Draco didn’t notice it. Every time she sneered, he pictured her smiling radiantly at him, the corners of her mouth that were dotted with freckles wrinkling merrily as she beamed, her soft amber eyes meeting his with the utmost affection.

Every moment she was in his sight, or not, his imagination ran wild with alluring visions of her ferocious red hair swirling about her cheeks, of cupping her freckled face in his hands and kissing her soft pink lips.

She enthralled and amazed him moment by moment, and with every waking hour that Draco struggled to remain ice cold and indifferent, he felt a bit of his frozen heart begin to thaw.

Every second without her was like a knife slicing his pale flesh, cutting deep into his skin and making him scream with agony inside. But the moment she strolled back into his view, her amber eyes shining through the darkness of his clouded vision, he felt a soothing cool against the wounds cut deep by the knives, and felt them heal instantly as she laughed happily nearby. Her chiming voice filled him up like satiating liquid, warming him to the very tips of his fingers.

When Draco closed his eyes, she would dance in his mind’s eye, her gentle curves twirling and spinning through his head, reaching for him, but never touching his skin. Draco was very sure that if he ever touched her soft flesh, that his fingers would catch fire and turn black as coal; because she was fire. She was wild and untamed and scared him to death. But without her, he was nothing but and empty shell with a heart of stone. Without her, he was a boy without a future; a boy without a soul. Ginny Weasley was the only thing in his life that he ever loved, and was the only one who could never love him back.

Fire and Ice can never exist together.

“What in the hell are you looking at, Malfoy?”

“Never you mind, Weasley. Never you mind.”

Fin.
