Author's Note:
This fic just kind of written itself on 1 AM a couple of nights ago. I hope you`ll enjoy it.

It was a beautiful day. One of those days that everything gets that lovely golden aura as the sunset slowly begins. Harry and Hermione were sitting on the slightly wet grass near the lake. Hermione was reading a book and Harry was just looking at the lake, mesmerized.

Hermione noticed her friend's arched eyebrows. "A Galleon for your thoughts," she said.

Harry snapped out of trance. "Oh, nothing. Just wondering what horrible deeds Snape is forcing Ron to do in detention," Harry answered in a low voice, uncharacteristically calm.

"Yeah..." Hermione replied, sounding skeptical. "Don't worry." She smiled. "I took care of his Charms homework, so that should lighten his mood in the evening."

"I haven't even started that yet!" Harry called.

"I really think you should, Harry. This is a turning point in our studies. As a matter of fact I'm even thinking of forcing Ron to redo them on the weekend, since this is..."

Slowly, Hermione's words turned into background noises, as Harry noticed Cho Chang walk to a small bench with a couple of friends. She was wearing tight black pants and a white tank top.

I haven't seen her in a while. Too long a while. Maybe I should stand up, go to her.

"I mean, this a whole new level for us! It's like in Transfiguration when we began working on actual animals..." Hermione rambled on.

Nah, it would look weird. But I really should one of these days. Next year is her last year and if I screw it up this year... God! I'm sick of this!

"I heard that in the Ministry they really appreciate students who... Harry, are you listening?"

I can't stand saying her name anymore! This has been going on... What? Three years now! Three! Voldemort managed return to power and start building an army in the time it takes me to ask a girl out!

"And then, after we saw his performance of "I Feel Pretty," Dumbledore and I simply knew that Snape was perfect for the part of Maria!"

Why am I like this? I don't even know her that well. Or at all. I mean she's obviously attractive...

Cho laughed for some reason and moved her head backward. Some golden rays were caught in her shiny black hair and her face was glowing with the aura of a goddess. Her eyes narrowed as she laughed.

Understatement of the year, Harry.

But still - that can't be it. Lavender is definitely shaggable and I'm not getting all dreamy eyes over her."

"And then, after fasting for two weeks, Ron decided to grow a tarantula..."

That's it. No more Cho. This is like a bad rerun. I'm letting her go. We'll talk and stuff, but nothing more.

Just then, Cho shifted her face and her eyes met with Harry, who has been staring at her for the past few minutes. Harry immediately shifted his glance back to Hermione.

"What were you saying Hermione?" Harry asked, in what he tried to make a natural calm voice.

"That Hagrid adopted small fluffy bunnies because he says they're exciting," Hermione said, deadpan. "You finished staring at Cho, I presume?"

Harry got red in the face. "Yeah. C'mon, let's go."

They stood up and began to pack their stuff.

"Harry!"

The dark haired teenager turned around. Cho was walking towards him, smiling.

When Cho reached him, she leaned towards him, preparing her cheek for a kiss. She placed her palm on his chest.

Some inborn instinct had Harry put his arm gently on her waist and peck her on the cheek.

She has such a soft cheek...This doesn't mean a thing; she greets all her friends like this.

"Do you know when the next Hogsmade visit is?" Cho asked him.

Her hand is still on my chest!

Nonchalantly Cho's hand slipped down on Harry stomach. He immediately sucked it in.

"Yeah, it's on the fifteenth, quot; Harry answered.

"You going?" she asked.

Does she leave her hand on all her friends like this? Or am I making too much of things? I hope I'm some dumb dense male who can't get a hint.

Like Ron.

"Probably," he said.

Real witty.

"Great," she smiled.

Hand off. Darn.

"I'll probably see you there," she said and headed back to her group.

Harry turned to find Hermione's knowing smile. "I could feel the heat just standing right here," she teased.

"Shut up!" Harry called back, with an indignant smile.

"If you want her, Harry, some day, you're actually going to have to let her know."

"This coming from a girl who have fancied one of her best friends for the past five bloody years?"

Hermione gave him an angry glare.

"I'll tell you what, the day you tell Ron how you feel, I'll ask Cho out."

"And when do you think that day will come?" Hermione asked.

"Probably a day after we help Snape with his lyrics," Harry replied with a mock thoughtful face.

"I hope he can carry a tune," Hermione answered between giggles.

Harry and Hermione began to laugh. However, it didn't take long for them to remember the somewhat depressing meaning of what they were laughing at. They stopped laughing and didn't say a word until they reached the entrance to the common room.

"You know what Hermione?" She hummed her approval. "I decided. And some day soon... "

Hermione looked at her friend, as he tried to find the right words.

"Let's put it this way: Snape better start rehearsing."

Hermione smiled at him and they walked into the common room.
