Untold Prophecies

Chapter 1

"Where did I put that blasted thing?"

Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, was standing in the middle of his apartment at Hogwarts looking very frustrated. With his hands on his hips, he let out a frustrated sigh before resuming his search.

"I know I must have put it somewhere safe, but that was so long ago. I can't remember where I put it. What I can remember, however, is the day she gave it to me. It was the day that obnoxious Riddle had marked Harry and killed his parents. She had gone even before she knew of their death. She came, gave me the letter, and disappeared to some corner of the world with her daughter for some unknown reason. I knew it had something to do with Riddle. I even offered to put her and her family under the Fidelus Charm, like I did for the Potters. She refused, mumbling something about her daughter being too precious. And so she left, leaving behind only a letter, asking me to safeguard it and only open it when the light side was in need of some hope. And they needed hope now, especially with the death of Sirius Black. Harry was isolating himself and losing hope. They definitely needed hope now. Argh! How can I remember all that and not remember where I put the letter? Maybe I should search through my pensieves and jog my memory a little? Yeah, I should do that. That's probably my best bet at finding the letter." With this he ended his long monologue. He opened the wooden cabinet behind his office desk and pulled out the most recent pensieve, the pensieve which held his memories from the time of the marauders. He thumbed through his memories until he saw himself put a letter with the Aurora family seal in the secret compartment under the flooring. He immediately returned the pensieve to the cabinet and hurried to retrieve the letter. He rushed to his living room, and opened the trap door located right under the chandelier, only to recover a letter with the Aurora family seal, the seal he had seen in his pensieve. Unable to contain the excitement, he ripped open the seal, disregarding the pieces of wax haphazardly flying every where, and quickly read through its contents.

"I think it's time for me to give Severus a new job."

"Pettigrew, I suggest you change out of your pitiful barbaric form right now," a voice seemingly coming from nothing hissed. However, a closer examination indicated the presence of a very frail creature, cloaked in a black robe, with eyes that resembled rubies. It seemed as though he was finally taking on a fragile human like appearance. From out of nowhere, a common household rat turned into a little stocky man, who still possessed whiskers as evidence of his animagus form.

"Y..y..yes m..my l..l..ord," the rat turned man stuttered.

"Trying to hide from me huh?"

"Y..y..yes..uh...n..no m..my l..l..ord."

"Good. Next time arrive in your human form. I don't want to be holding a conversation with a common household pest. Remember, I can always feed you that muggle poison for rats that seems so effective."

"S..s..sorry my lord"

"I will ignore your first offence. Now, Pettigrew, I know that you were not the best student at school, but I have a project for you that might evoke memories of your days at Hogwarts, especially the library at Hogwarts. I always though Hogwarts had an exceptional library. Don't you think so? Anyways, I have a research project for you. I want you to find out every thing about the sentient that the second prophesy was talking about. I also want you to find out carriers of this power. Report back to me as soon as you can come up with a list of people who posses this power and a paper on sentients. You are dismissed now, and remember the next time you come here; I expect to have the information."

"Y..y..yes m..my l..l..ord." With a final squeak the man turned into a rat and scurried away into a dark corner.

Headmaster Dumbledore changed his star infested midnight blue robes for a set of black robes before grabbing a handful off ashy powder called floo powder from the bowl in front of the fire place. "I hope Severus likes the black robes. It is my only chance at convincing him." He stepped into the fireplace, stated "Snape Manor" and sprinkled the powder on to him. With a swish, blue flames erupted to consume the headmaster making him disappear. A few seconds later, the headmaster walked out of the fireplace at a residence very different from his own. The new location was decorated in shades of green, silver, and black.

"Who dares disturb my peaceful vacation away from all those vile hormone infested pre pubescent creatures?" A very annoyed man with shoulder length black hair, pale skin, and black robes very similar to those of the headmaster arrived from one of the doors.

"Severus, it's just me," the headmaster assured the man. It was his way of telling his potions master that no children where present, even though he never understood why the potions master disliked children, after all he was a teacher and a teacher worked with children everyday.

"Oh, I'm sorry headmaster. Is there anything you wanted?"

"Yes Severus, but before I start, I want you to read this letter." The headmaster handed Severus a letter.

"Why headmaster, what is it?"

"Just read the letter Severus."

A few minutes of silence ensued, during which Severus read the letter.

"Oh my Albus, what are we going to do?"

"We're going to ensure their safety. We're going to make sure that Riddle does not get a hold of them."

"But what does this have to do with me?"

"I want you to go get them and ensure their safe arrival to the headquarters."

"Albus, you know my history with her. I don't think it would be very wise for me to be the one to go fetch them."

"On the contrary, I think it would be in our best interest if you were to do the job. Any of the aurors would raise suspicion. And you deserve a break. It will also give you something to do. With your spy work done, I don't want you to be too bored."

"But Albus, surely you could send Lupin or someone like that. He will arouse less suspicion than I will."

"That is true, but I think this trip will do wonders for you. Plus, you know her really well. You can catch up with each other and have fun," Albus said with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. One could tell he was up to something.

"Fine, I'll do it. Where am I supposed to go?"

"Oh, I took the liberty of finding out where she lives now. Here you go. Thank you, Severus. I'm sure you'll be able to plan the trip without my services. And the muggles have interesting ways of traveling." With this subtle hint, Albus Dumbledore stepped into the fireplace through which he had arrived earlier.

"Oh and Severus, be sure to pick up Mr. Potter, Mr. Wesley, Ms, Granger, and of course Mr. Malfoy. They'll be joining you in you trip."

With that the headmaster named his next destination, The Burrow, sprinkled the floo powder, and disappeared leaving Severus at his wake.

At hearing the last bit of information, the potions master just groaned and gave up his hopes of a calm and peaceful summer without the interference of all those vile hormone infested pre-pubescent creatures.

Author notes: A/N: So is it starting out better than the last one did? Also, is it mistake infested? If so, please do point it out. This one I edited myself, but I’m still in search of a Beta, who has a lot of free time, is extremely good with grammar, and has read all the books at least two times each, or at least has a good working knowledge of Rowling’s Harry Potter Books. Just e-mail me with Beta applications. Be sure to include you experience with English, and if you have Beta read someone’s story before, be sure to link me to the story, so that I can read it. That’s about it for now. I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. I’ll have the second chapter up as soon as possible. And make sure to leave reviews and recommend this story to all your friends.
