Story Summary:
This is the sequel to Behind Blind Eyes, so it's probably a lot like it. Anyway, it's Ginny's story, and it would probably be a good idea to read Behind Blind Eyes first. Behind Brown Eyes

She wanted to go see him. She was miserable by herself. And she was by herself, after her favorite brother and her best friend had died, she had hidden herself away and only left her house for groceries. The last time Ginny had seen him was at their funeral. Everyone had thought that soon they would be going to their wedding, so it was even sadder. Harry had told her about why she hadn't died, why she wasn't lying three feet below the cold, hard November earth. She had been touched that he would do something like that for her, but disgusted that he thought her more important that the entire Wizarding community. And the muggles. That was the last thing he said to her, "I'm sorry." Then she had walked away, only looking back when she knew he wasn't watching.

She had gotten a job editing the Quibbler, and mailed her edits to Luna by owl. Luna sometimes went to visit Harry and told Ginny how he was doing. She always urged Ginny to go visit him herself, and after she heard about his eyes, she almost did. But she couldn't. At first it was because she felt responsible for Ron and Hermione's deaths. She didn't want any contact with Harry for fear of losing him too. What she didn't know was that she was slowly losing him as it was. Then she stayed away because she thought Harry deserved better. But she was wrong, Harry needed her.

Whenever Luna gave her an update, she would cry for a few days at how far gone Harry was. She always wished this was another thing Luna simply made up, but she feared that the boy she had once known was gone forever. The boy-who-lived was dieing. There was nothing she wanted more than to go see Harry, to visit him, to comfort him, to tell him it wasn't his fault that everyone was gone. But she couldn't.

Then one night, she fell asleep with the Wizarding Wireless Network still adding up and taking a tally of those who had been lost in the battle blasting in ear. Idiots, she thought there are more important things to be doing than adding up the dead in numbers, like the actual lives don't count. Then she sat up straight. That name. Who are they and why are they familiar? She listened for a moment longer in case they repeated it. They did. "Yes folks, that's right! Our beloved (at this point Ginny snorted loudly) hero was reported dead today!" Ginny wasn't laughing anymore. Why was that stupid reporter using exclamation points? This was not a happy thing! Harry was dead! She had to go see him! Almost immediately she found herself at a graveyard. She looked around and saw people crying all around her. Then she felt the tear tracks on her own face. This was Harry's funeral, she had rushed to his house almost a week earlier to hold his cold hand and stoke his gray hair and tell him that she was sorry. She wished she had gone sooner, because Harry's death, these crying people, they were her fault. Even if the other funerals weren't, this one was. And a sob burst from her chest, she had been holding it in for too long. And then she ran.

She woke with a start, tears still streaming down her face. Still sobbing horribly. And she knew she couldn't stay away any longer. Most people weren't even given one warning; she would not be given two. She had to leave; she had to go... find him. Tell him... tell him what she was afraid she would never get to tell him. As she wrapped the purple fuzzy scarf that had been like the Weasley sweaters this year around her neck and put on the matching hat, she thought about what she would say.

As it turned out, she didn't have to say anything. When she showed up at Harry's door, she heard the gentle, rhythmic tapping that she supposed must be Harry's cane. She remembered when he used to hold her hand and swing it in that same gentle, rhythmic way. She rapidly blinked back the tears that welled up in her eyes just in time to see the door open. It turned out Luna was right, Harry had closed his eyes. She supposed that if they had been open, they would have a haunted look in them. He didn't look like the same boy she had once known, with his stormy sky eyelids, and matching hair, the cane clutched to his side, as if he was constantly on guard for an attack. But then, living his life might just do that to you. Then she saw something she hadn't seen in a long time, and had thought she would never see again. Harry's hair slowly became darker as he breathed in her scent. Finally it reached the deep black with only a bit of grey in it that was about the color expected for someone who had lived through the things he had. Quietly, but unmistakably, as if he didn't really know why he was doing it, his eyes opened. Ginny gasped in shock at the dull green color they had become. But with suns and moons and stars flashing through the sky, they slowly drank in the sight of her, the thing they had longed for for so long, and gently, as if she were a healing potion, they returned to the bright green, freshly pickled toad hue they been so long ago. And as they rushed to each others arms without hesitation, Ginny was thinking, I am the first thing he's seen. And that seemed to give her the responsibility, the responsibility to be the last think he saw as well. She would not leave him again. When Harry kissed her, while she enjoyed the sight and feel of him, the old him, the new him, Harry, these thoughts were racing through her brain, and they cleaned out the filing cabinet in her brain with her love life in it. They replaced all those other files with one single word, a name. Harry. And that name was the only one that would ever be in that folder. These thoughts were working double time to clean it out, Behind Brown Eyes.

A/N- well, that's the sequel, I hope you liked it. Was it as good as the other one? Any way, thanks to everyone who reviewed, makinmagic323, DarkWind, purplepanther, patient wanderer, mrs_weasley, and ronnyc718. And everyone should read makinmagic323s story, Behind Emerald Eyes, it's a lot better than mine are. Oh, and Ron's point of view will be up as soon as this one gets posted, 'cause it's already finished. I hope you review! Because fear of reviewing only increases fear of the fanfic itself.

Any way, thanks to everyone who reviewed, or, I should say, thanks to ILoveLost1888, because they're the ONLY person who reviewed!! Of course, when I posted this, the other one had only been validated for, like, an hour, so that makes sense.
