Chapter 1

The Beginning

Draco Malfoy felt that something about him had changed, but he didn't know what. He felt as though something was missing. He decided to put it behind him. He dressed and strolled into the kitchen, where his family's house elves were too busy making breakfast to acknowledge he was even there. He sat down eager to eat something. Suddenly in the corner in Draco's eye, he caught a glimpse of an owl carrying a note, swooping down, Draco's heart leapt, but it soon dropped again, it was just a crow.

"Bastard crows," bellowed Draco. "Hurry up with my tea, you stupid elves!"

"Well some one is in a good mood," Draco's mother appeared from nowhere. "You heard what he said, hurry up!" She said realizing the house elves had stopped to listen. She looked at her son, she knew something was wrong. She wondered if she would say anything. Draco looked back, he knew that his mother loved him. Draco wondered whether to turn away or walk away. Just in that time Lucius Malfoy came strolling in with a smirk on his face.

"Have you seen the Daily Prophet?" he said rubbing his hands together.

"No, should I?" asked Draco.

"Should you?" Lucius said very amused, "should you? Here read it know!"

Lucius shoved the Daily Prophet to wards Draco. Draco took it from his slick father. Draco stared at the front page with amazement. On the front page was Mr. Weasley looking very stressed indeed. Draco read the article with full intent.

Mr. Weasley, The Misused of Muggle Artefacts Office, has been charged of child abuse. A family of 6 boys and 1 girl have been bashed and bruised by magical substances, which are still unknown as yet, but are being uncovered by the Improper Use of Magic Office. Mr. Weasley claims to be innocent. But his son Charlie claimed when he was living at the "Burrow" there was violent use of magic and child abuse. All the children are being tested and interviewed. Until one of them admits to such crime no action will come to Mr. Weasley.

Rita Skeeter

Draco looked up to see a smile on his fathers' face. Draco forced a smile back, and gave the Daily Prophet back.

"Father? Why do you hate the Weasleys so much?" Draco asked curiously.

"Why shouldn't I?" Lucius towered over his son "Why shouldn't I hate the Muggle lovers? Their family has been trouble since the very first Weasley. They give a bad name for wizards, filthy Muggle lovers! Our family is the best wizards to ever come across! Why? Why do you ask my son?" Lucius eyes flicked towards Draco.

"Have you become best friends with the red heads? Or you like the Mudblood, what's her name?"

"Hermione Granger" Draco blurted out

Lucius stared at Draco.

"How extraordinary," he said slowly, "for you to know the Mudblood's name"

With that Draco clenched his fists. Lucius saw this.

"I think you have a little explaining to do."

Draco stared up at his father. He didn't know what was wrong with him. Why did I act like that? He thought to himself.

"There is nothing to explain."

Draco swiftly walked up stairs. He left his father astounded.
