~Chapter 5~

Infatuation

"Does the guy ever stop fawning over her?" Hermione asked after three days of watching Jeff follow Lita around like a lost puppy. "He's all over her, it's disgusting."

"Harry and Dra--erm...." Ron cleared his throat uncomfortably.

"That was different. They did it to each other. With these two, it's completely one-sided."

"Would you two stop?" I asked angrily. "All weekend I've heard your whispered conversations and if I have to hear one more bloody word about it, I swear I'm going to fucking curse you both."

"Sure, mate," Ron said weakly.

"Alright, Harry," Hermione said slowly. She had that look though. The one that said 'I'll drop this for now, but only because you're my friend.'

I have the feeling that she'll bring it up again, though hopefully not too soon.

Lita sat down between Ron and Hermione, leaving Jeff to find the only empty space at the other end of the table.

"Thank Merlin," she sighed, resting her head in her hands.

"Is he really that bad?" Hermione asked.

She looked over at her. "I thought he was going to ask everyone to move down one space just so he could sit by me. He wasn't nearly this bad in fifth year."

"He's always talking about you," I said absently looking at that damned blonde that takes up so much of my thoughts.

"What does he talk about?" she demanded shocked and worried.

I looked at her. "About how much he likes you and misses you. And about how beautiful he thinks you are--" she blushed "--and he talks about trips to the coast."

She went white. Maybe that's just her pale, but even Draco had color in his face when he went pale. I've never seen someone go white.

"He what?" she asked in a voice entirely like her own. I don't blame her. Some of the things he said they've done.... Pretty embarrassing for a stranger to hear. "What has he told you?"

"What do you think he's told me?"
~*~*~*~

The look Harry gave me told me Jeff had told him everything. Fuck.

"Excuse me," I said shortly getting up.

I walked out of the Great Hall and waited only seconds for Jeff to join me.

"God fucking damn you," I shouted decking him in the mouth. He staggered back before righting himself and glaring at me.

"What the fuck was that for?" he demanded, lip bleeding.

"How dare you," I repeated dangerously. "How the fuck could you say those things? And to him of all people!"

"He asked me!" Jeff shouted back knowing exactly what I was talking about.

"Oh that makes it all better!" I retorted sarcastically. "And what if some complete fucking stranger asks? Are you going to tell them too?"

"No!" he answered offended. "He's different!"

"I know he is, Jeff! Why do you think I'm so fucking upset? He doesn't need to know that shit!"

"I didn't tell him everything!"

"You told him enough. Don't say any more, and stay the fuck away from me." I started to walk back into the Great Hall.

"Who gives you the right to tell me what the fuck I can and can't do?" he shouted as I put my hand on the door.

"How much do you like your face?" I asked calmly as I opened the door to join Harry, Ron, and Hermione again.

"What did you do to him?" Hermione asked when--thankfully--Jeff did not re-enter the Hall.

"Punched him, yelled at him, and told him to stay the hell away from me."

"You did what?" Harry asked in disbelief.

"He says you asked. Did you?"

"Not for the details. I only asked what you were like when he knew you."

"Are any of you?" I couldn't finish the question.

"Hermione," Harry answered.

"What?" she asked looking at Harry confused.

"You are the only virgin out of now 5 seventh years and 2 sixth years."

Hermione turned beat red and tried to drink from an empty goblet while Ron looked like he was seeing red started stuttering incoherently. "Who?" Ron demanded finally finding his voice.

Harry shook his head. "I don't know, Ron. If you want to know, ask your sister," he finished and went back to pushing his food around his plate but not eating. Come to think about it, I don't think I've seen him eat. It's been three days...I wonder why he's not.

But now is not the time for dwelling on such things. Now is the time for Defense Against the Dark Arts.
