Diary Riddle wants to find out more about this man who had dazzled his future self. As he walks through the maze of Lucius, he finds himself becoming increasingly attached to the Malfoy and deeply in love with him. Also Lucius is affected by closeness he had never even dreamed of having with his (secretly) beloved Dark Lord. The pale reflex of what he could have had with Voldemort tortures him, but he finds himself incapable of putting the Diary away, like he had never been able to unravel himself from that love.
