You're All I Want

By: Potter_punkette

Severus Snape-Honour Student

I glanced at the silver hourglass in the Slytherin Common Room.

Five to eleven.

How I dread the dark loom of the windowless Transfiguration classroom. I'd much rather the lavish sunlight in the library...and many other pretty things in the library. Clarice Patil, for instance. Why does she have to be a Ravenclaw? I can't even talk to her because her imbecile of a brother will smash me to bits. (A/N: This brother is Parvati and Padma's father...)

With a heavy heart I headed for the Transfiguration classroom. I've found a secret passageway that'll lead me right to the Transfiguration corridor and back. Just as I was entering the classroom, a huddle of rowdy boys trampled me and barged in. As I straightened myself out, I'd seen who was to blame. The Marauders, as they liked to be called. Fowl name, that. It was that awful James Potter, Quidditch star and his equally horrible cronies.

I know their secret though. Lupin, the tall one with short hair, is a werewolf. Dumbledore thinks he's doing him a favour, letting him run around this place like the animal that he is. Of course, once a month they lock him up at the end of a tunnel behind the Whomping Willow. Dumbledore wouldn't let me breathe a word to anybody... He won't be able to stop me once I have proof to give Lucius. This would get me into the gang. For sure...

You see, the gang is made up of Lucius Malfoy and a few other seventh years. Nobody knows about them, their meetings are in their dormitory and the only reason I found out was because they made me do an errand for them. For now, I'm their little errand boy. Not for long. The minute I unveil Lupin's secret, I'll be much more... I may even replace Crabbe, Lucius' right hand man.

The rush of anticipation made me forget the incident in the doorway and left me in a daze. I can't remember what happened in Transfiguration, exactly... At the end of class, I walked the long way back to the Slytherin dungeons.

In mid-corridor, I halted suddenly to a soft, familiar voice. Ah, that Gryffindor, Melissa is it? I slipped behind a gargoyle and did a bit if eavesdropping.

"That's silly, you should never ask for a kiss, but take one at every chance you get." She's with that damn Sirius Black git... That greedy prat why is he--

They're kissing! I have to get Altwitch! I'm no tattletale but we're talking about one of the Marauders here! I turned and ran toward my secret passageway just to run right into Altwitch who was emerging from the very passageway...

"Professor! Two students are doing ungodly things just ahead! You should get to them before Dumbledore does!" I felt so manipulative, using Altwitch's hate for Dumbledore to get my way.

Altwitch's face struggled against showing any emotion and he walked off in an unnatural pace. A part of me wanted to linger, just to see the look on Black's face...the other part wanted me to run in case I was seen by the snivelling weasel. I unanimously agreed with the second part of me and rushed through the not-so-secret passageway and back to the Common Room.

I got to the icy Common Room and a wave of horrible realisation went through me. I closed my eyes and waited.

"Severus, did you get the Potion I assigned of you?" came the oily voice I respected and hated at the same time.

The silence hung in the air, unbearable, until I found words,

"N-no."

"No, what?" ordered Lucius.

Strike two.

"No, sir." I'd become disgusted with myself referring to a person my age as if he were a superior. He is a superior, and he craves the glory, the fame, the fortune and most of all, the respect.

"And why is that, Severus?" he shot icily.

"It slipped my mind."

"Liar. You are just scared. You are no longer useful to us. Good day." He snapped his fingers and his gang followed. I was screaming inside, "NO, WAIT! STOP!"

"Lucius," I stammered, "Give me another chance. I am not scared."

"Chances are for the weak." He said this without even turning around.

"I know. But where would we be without chances?" At this Lucius turned to face me, his cold glare resting upon me. It was amazing how he could belittle someone with a glare.

"Get me the Potion, Severus. We'll meet in the old Arithmancy classroom at eight o'clock next Saturday. That should give you ample time, I say." His tone was menacing. I nodded and with my head hung low; I descended the stairs to my dormitory.

I changed my robes and set off to the library for an early start on a few assignments...and to do other things.

..::The Next Night::..

It's dark in the Hogwarts castle at night. I walked soundlessly through the halls as beads of sweat rolled down my temples. When I'd finally reached the Potions cabinet, I muttered a low,

"Alohomora." The cabinet opened with the slightest of ease. I ran my finger across each shelf reading the names on all the old, oddly shaped bottles. I got the vial of Unicorn blood for Lucius, but I wasn't done yet. I needed something for myself. Veritaserum. This will be the key to my stardom. The minute I get Lupin alone, my deed will be done.

..::Saturday Night::..

I ate my dinner uneasily, getting piercing regards from the gang. After dinner, I walked swiftly to my dormitory to get the Potion for Lucius. I checked the silver hourglass before departing again.

Fifteen after seven.

I decided to wander for a while. As I made my way through the corridors I felt the chill that came from outside. Soon it's going to be Christmas. I despise Christmas. My family is so hostile and cold. Hogwarts, to me, is the same. If I were to have friends, it would be different.

Losing myself in thought I knocked right into a tall, burly figure by the name of Remus Lupin. My eyes quickly darted to the window overlooking the lake. It's almost a full moon. He's off to his hiding place. If I stall him, I can get him to Lucius and use the Veritaserum on him. The plan bubbled anxiously in my head. Will I really go through with it? A rush of excited energy went through me. I smiled evilly and said,

"Lupin, what are you doing here?" taking advantage of my Prefect stature.

He faltered and replied, "I'm going to the infirmary."

"Is that so?"

"Yes." I noticed his hand was beginning to shake.

"Lupin, is there anything wrong? If you really need help at the infirmary so quickly, I'll get you some help... Follow me." I knew he wouldn't have the guts to refuse the help and he followed me. I sort of just went wherever until I finally decided to bring him to Lucius.

"Where are you taking me, Snape?" he asked, a hint of malice obvious in his voice.

"To the old Arithmancy classroom, Professor McGonagall is there, grading a few papers for the second years."

He seemed hesitant but continued following. We arrived to the classroom and with a swift movement; I knocked Remus, who was behind me, over. (A/N: I love Remus, but this is the only thing I thought of that would make it coherent! Sorry!) I cast a simple levitation charm on his motionless body and brought him into the classroom; where stood Lucius and the gang.

"What have we got here?" came a curious Lucius. His amoebas seemed intrigued as well.

"A werewolf," I replied coolly. I'd grasped their attention and the happiness was flowing through my veins at the very thought of being part of the gang.

"Do you have any proof, Severus?" Lucius was trying to get me to crack. He doesn't like getting his precious spotlight taken away from him.

I slipped my hand in my cloak pocket and took the vial of Veritaserum and dropped a bit into Lupin's mouth. He woke up and Lucius inquired him.

The information just shot out like a bunch of Filibusters' Wet-Start, No Heat Fireworks. When Lucius was pleased, he sent Lupin off and turned to me,

"You've done well Severus."

"Thank-you, sir."

The happiness was surging through my body...I'm in!

"This information is very important to us. This will get Dumbledore out for sure. With Dumbledore out..." A crazy smile formed itself on Lucius' lips. The whole gang resumed the evil smile. I decided against asking why because it was obvious I was supposed to know.

With a shivering hand, I took the vial of Unicorn blood and handed it to Lucius. His pale eyes glossy, he snatched it out of my hands and examined it carefully.

"Very well done, Severus. There are some things we need to discuss, being as this IS a Death-Eater meeting."

What's a Death-Eater? Lucius proceeded,

"Voldemort has gotten a fair number of followers now and will be needing more, he has Karkaroff in Bulgaria and I, of course, am here. We've been sent out to retrieve eager followers. Pure-bloods only. Severus, you will soon be what you've been waiting for, a Death-Eater. After the Dark Mark is performed on your forearm, you will be permitted to come to all our meetings and will meet Voldemort himself."

My heart was ready to leap out of my chest. Had I heard properly? I, Severus Snape, a Death Eater?

A/N: I hope you enjoy this chapter. My writing style has changed... Umm, for the better? Any comments?
