You're All I Want

Chapter One
I sat back into my chair and sighed happily. Sixth year is the best at Hogwarts. Well, beside first year...I can remember that very first day on Platform 9 ¾.
Six years ago, I looked around nervously looking for a potential friend. Then, I saw him. Messy, shaggy, black hair... I guess he'd seen me first,
"Hey! I'm Sirius Black, who're you? Wow! You have purple eyes?"
"I'm Melissa Ella. Yes, I think it's a birth defect," I said holding out my hand for him to shake. He did the same. We shook hands and laughed.
"James, come here! I've found us a friend! Bring Lily!" he yelled coaxingly. A scrawny boy with extremely unruly, black hair appeared at his side. "Lily" was a red haired girl with brilliant green eyes that sparkled in the dimly lit Platform.
"I'm James Potter and this is Lily Evans," said the boy with the unruly hair.
"I'm Melissa Ella." I smiled. I finally have friends...
I shook hands with James and Lily. All four of us headed onto the Hogwarts Express, our friendship blossomed since then. We've all changed a lot. Sirius, for instance, was no longer innocent, though, I doubt he ever was innocent...
After the Sorting Ceremony, during the feast, we'd made friends with Remus, Peter, Azura and Sheena. Even thouh we had other friends, it was always the original four; James, Sirius, Lily and I.

Hi Mel,
Can Transfiguration get any duller? Do you think you're coming to the Three Broomsticks on Friday night? I'm going unless I get a detention, which I presume won't happen. Remus has finally asked Azura out! When she told me all I could think was, "Finally!" Gee, I really hope James asks me out. Do you think he likes me? Ha! I've caught you in a lie, Melissa Ella! You can no longer deny your love for Sirius Black! I see you ogling at him from here! Okay, enough of that. Actually, Black has returned the stare. Wow, you'd think he's never seen a woman before. Uh-oh, trouble...Severus is drooling over you as well. He is quite repulsive. I say we buy him some shampoo for Christmas. How long ago, do you think, was his last shower? I don't think I've ever seen his hair CLEAN, for that matter. Gross. I'm in a very bold mood, and if James hasn't asked me out by the end of the day, I'm doing it myself. I suggest you tell Sirius how you feel; I'd be ready to wager a lot of Galleons on the fact that he'd be taken completely off guard. You're always ignoring him; it must be tough for him. I KNOW he likes you. I have to go! McGonagall is coming and I haven't even begun to transfigure my kettle! Love you lots,
Lils

If there's one thing about Lily, is that's she is a professional at analyzing people. I should have known better than to lie to her about my feelings toward Sirius. I've liked him since that faithful day on the platform *sigh*.
I looked at Sirius, he was looking back (Oh no...) He ran his fingers through that hair I love and smiled shyly. I pretended I hadn't noticed and took down notes from the black board behind him. Why do I keep doing that? The other part of my brain kept urging, It's love, my dear.
I pushed the thoughts out of my brain and pulled out a parchment and wrote a note to Lily;
Hi Lils,
I am absolutely positive that James loves you. It has always been you and him. I knew it since the day we all met. It's just something about you two. The way you look at each other...I've known about the Azura/Remus thing since breakfast, by the way. Ah, Lily, always slow on gossip...I DO NOT like Sirius...I think I actually love him. Don't you just hate the way Peter tags along everywhere, since when has he been *with* us? I have no idea, but I find it rather obnoxious. You are totally not serious about the Severus thing right? He's very greasy indeed, you have a point but I do not wish to waste my money on shampoo for him, I can barely afford mascara for myself, thank you very much. You really should ask James, I think he'll find it very appealing that you're taking the initiative since it's obvious he's in love with you. I think Severus has a thing for Gryffindor girls because his ogle has turned toward you...ha ha on you! Wow, McGonagall pops up at the strangest times, she's on her way to mark my peacock! Love and Huggle,
Mel

I quickly passed the note to Lily, who took it with a smile. With her other hand she pointed at Sirius, who was looking at us curiously. Damn that girl! Sirius waved and I waved back. I looked at my shoes, they sure are fascinating! I blushed frantically. Lily was laughing boisterously. It wasn't long before Sheena and Azura had joined.
Professor McGonagall appeared before me with a very stern look on her face.
"Very well done, full marks. Very nice use of colouring, Miss Ella."
I smiled in a very schoolgirl way until she turned toward some unsuspecting Slytherin girls.
On my way back to my table, Sirius tossed a note to James. I reached out and intercepted it. After getting a nervous look from both of them, I rushed to my table with the note. Sirius was mouthing something to James; there was a look of urgency on his face. What could be so important? I decided to find out.
Jamesie Boy!
I know you like Lils. Just ask her out already! What am I going to do? She's always pretending like I'm not even there, as if she hates me or something. She's always really nice to me when we're all talking...it's just...I don't know. Don't you just love her hair? Long, black and curly...are you going sneak out tonight? Bye,
Padfoot
There's a lot of useful information in this here note... James likes Lily, big deal; everyone's known that since first year. Now... Sirius likes someone with long, black curly hair... I'm going to ignore that voice at the back of my head telling me it's me. I really should not get my hopes up...
I walked over to James confidently and handed him his note,
"I believe this belongs to you." I flashed James a mysterious smile and returned to my seat only to find a note from Lily. A simple line...
What was on the note??
Talk about eager... I wrote everything down except the part where James likes Lily, she'll find out soon enough...
Lily almost ripped the note out of my hand and read it an amazing speed. She handed me the note back and I opened it only to find a statement at the bottom of the page, "He likes you!" I shrugged it off and stuffed the note in my robes.
James was coming toward me. I feebly waved and so did he.
"Mel, forget everything you read in that note."
"What? Why?"
"That note was not meant for your eyes."
"Sirius should not be passing notes."
"As if you've never sent a note to anyone, Mother Mary. Look, now that you know, what do you think?"
"What do I know?" It was obvious I knew what he was talking about, but what fun is it when you do anything without teasing James?
"Come on! You're the only girl with long, black curly hair!"
"Am I? There's Severus, too."
A few Slytherin girls turned to scowl at me.
"True, but you're the only Gryffindor girl with long, black curly hair." James was fighting the smile that was tugging at his lips.
"Really? I hadn't noticed..."
"Ugh! Impossible! You're making this so hard!" James was getting angrier; his hair was getting messier by the second.
"Alright, alright...I know. Is he going to ask me out or something?"
James opened his mouth to talk but McGonagall cut him off.
"Mr. Potter, Miss Ella, would you mind sharing your conversation?"
"I wouldn't mind at all. Professor," I said sweetly. James shot me a terrified look.
"Go on then," she prodded.
"Well, we've been arguing about the different wand movements we could have used to transfigure the kettle. I suggested the circle motion, while James insisted that the flicking motion was most effective." I smiled in my most teachers' pet way and waited for a response.
"Oh, very well then. Mr. Potter, you are certainly correct." James gave me a grateful smile as she turned away.
"If she only knew how you really are...Bet she'd love to hear about how you sneak off to Hogsmeade on weekends," James said smugly.
"You follow Lily and I, so you're just as bad!"
"So, do you like Sirius," he asked, getting back to business.
"If I tell you, I'll have to kill you."
"I'm willing to risk it." He smiled evilly and reached into his robes.
"Then, well, yes, I do like him. Will he ask me out or what?"
"You like him?!"
"That's what I said wasn't it?"
"Yes, I suppose it was. It's very surprising considering you don't show it at all. You're always ignoring him..."
"I do not!" The sad fact was I've known that I've been ignoring him. I only did it because flirting wasn't getting me anywhere.
"Ah, true love... I should have known it was only a sign that you're in love with him..."
"Oh shut up!"
"Okay! I'm going to tell Sirius to ask you out because you like him. Alright?"
"Yes, on one condition; you have to ask our dear friend Lily out." James' eyes lit up at the sound of her name. He nodded quickly and rushed toward Sirius.
I skipped back to my table and wrote Lily a letter.
Lils!
Good news! You are going to the Three Broomsticks with James. He's going to ask you after class. I suggest we split up because Sirius is going to ask me out too. Tell me I'm not dreaming! I am truly happy for you and James, congratulations! Love and Happiness,
Melissa Ella Black (ha-ha, that'll be the day...)
As I gave Lily the note, the dismissal bell rang and I was off with a wave to Lily. Halfway through the deserted Transfiguration hall;
"Melissa? Hi. Do you have a minute?"
"It's your lucky day, I have five minutes!" Wow! Where'd I get that? He must think I'm such a loser...
He laughed nervously and ran his fingers through his hair. How I wish I were running my fingers through that hair, I thought absent-mindedly. I fought the urge to do so and smiled at him.
"I wanted to know if you're going to the Three Broomsticks on Friday night."
"I wouldn't miss it."
"Great, are you going with anyone?" I knew that was coming. I'm surprised he can't hear my heart beating. The world is spinning around us... Sirius was blushing and his forehead was becoming damp.
"Are you kidding?" I asked nervously, "I'm not going with anybody, you?"
"I'm not going with anybody either. The one person I do want to go with, though, is you."
"What a coincidence! I want to go with you too!"
We smiled at each other for the longest time. Sirius was thinking of something...Do I have something in my teeth?
"What wrong?" I finally asked curiously.
"I'm contemplating..."
"Please elaborate, I'm not getting much from that," I urged.
"I'm contemplating whether I should kiss you or not," he said sheepishly.
"That's silly, you should never ask for a kiss, but take one at every chance you get."
He didn't hesitate at my words. We could have kissed forever...
"Mr. Black! Miss Ella! Follow me," came the voice of the stern Professor Altwitch. Professor Altwitch was the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher and unfortunately, the Head of Slytherin House... He'd witnessed the snogging... We're in trouble...
A/N: Hey readers. I hope you've all liked my first chapter! My whole fic has already been written but I have to type it up. Who would have thought all those creative vibes in my French class would result in another fic... Oh the wonders of classroom 103...
