Second chapter up! This is, by far, one of my favorite chapters. The suspense is building. I hope everyone likes it!

Chapter 2

Yvonne flew in her falcon form all the way to the one place where she knew she would find comfort: Hogwarts. The weather on her way to the school became horrible. Ice cold rain poured onto her feathers, making it harder to steer herself in the air. She finally landed at the oak front doors and transformed back into a human. Yvonne coughed and shivered. She moved her wet hair out of her face and knocked on the door. A tall figure dressed in black stood in the doorway. Yvonne looked up and smiled at him faintly.

"Y-Yvonne?" said the figure in awe and bewilderment.

"Severus..." she whispered and fell into his arms unconscious. Snape stared at the woman in his arms for a long time. Was this really Yvonne Davis? The girl he had had a crush on in school? He looked at her again and tried to lift her up in a better position. He then decided to take her to Madam Pomfrey.

"Good heavens, what happened to her?!" cried Madam Pomfrey. She felt Yvonne's forehead. "She's gone deathly cold!"

"She was waiting at the front doors when I answered the door," explained Severus.

"Must be the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher."

Snape stiffened. Yvonne was going to be working here? With him? Just what he needed. Sirius Black's ex-girlfriend to keep him company. "She's going to need to spend some time in the infirmary before her temperature's back to normal," Madam Pomfrey stated with a deep sigh.

"How long do you think that will be, Poppy?" Snape asked.

"A day or so," she answered. "Perhaps you should tell Dumbledore about this girl."

"Yes, I think I will." With that, the Potions Master left the hospital wing and made his way to Dumbledore's office. He said the password and entered the office.

"Something wrong, Severus?" Dumbledore asked politely.

"Headmaster, Yvonne Davis has just arrived," said Snape.

"Goodness, I was expecting her owl, not just for her to show up at the door. However, since she's here...Where is she, Severus?"

"In the infirmary. She was deathly cold when I brought her in. She fainted in my arms."

"She shouldn't have been flying in this weather."

"But sir, she didn't have a broomstick that I'm aware of."

"Severus, I know this may come as a shock, but Yvonne is an unregistered Animagus. She's a falcon."

Snape's black eyes widened in mild shock. He then lowered his head and muttered, "So she's the new Dark Arts teacher then?"

"Well, she wouldn't come all this way for nothing, Severus. So tell me, how does she look besides wet and frozen?"

"She looks the same as she did while in school."

"Ah, not too keen on getting too much into the subject, are you? Don't worry, Severus. Yvonne was a very beautiful young girl when she attended Hogwarts and I'm sure she's even lovelier now. Am I right?"

Snape coughed uncomfortably and looked away. Dumbledore smiled as his eyes twinkled behind his half moon spectacles. "Sirius Black told me that he and Harry rescued the poor girl from Azkaban a few days ago," the headmaster said seriously.

"What was she doing in prison?"

"Apparently, we had it all wrong. Sirius did not escape by himself, Yvonne set him free but was captured herself."

"Black should have went back and saved her," Snape growled. "You saw how they were together in school."

"I did, Severus, I did. But things change. People change. Perhaps the debt had to wait a while."

Snape was silent. "Headmaster," he finally said, "would you like me to keep an eye on Yvonne this year?"

"I think that would be best. I have reason to believe that Voldemort is after her. At the next Death Eater meeting, I expect you to fill me in on anything unusual. We need to know what he's planning."

"I have only just returned to his ranks, but I think he suspects me."

"Let us hope that you do not get caught, Severus. I could not bare to lose someone so close to me."

The Potions Master nodded curtly. "Good day to you," he said and walked out of the office. When he returned to the hospital wing, he noticed that Yvonne was awake. She was sitting up in bed being forced to put a thermometer in her mouth. Snape chuckled to himself as he watched her resist Madam Pomfrey.

"It's for your own good, young lady!" cried the nurse.

"But it feels weird in my mouth!" argued Yvonne. She closed her mouth stubbornly, refusing to let the thermometer into her mouth. Madam Pomfrey finally forcibly stuck it in Yvonne's mouth. The brunette moaned. She saw Severus and narrowed her eyes as she saw him smiling. "Ith's not funny!" she snapped.

"Don't talk with that in your mouth," scoffed Madam Pomfrey.

"Can I talk with her alone, Poppy?" Snape asked. "Dumbledore wants me to watch over her."

"I'm not a baby!" Yvonne shouted angrily spitting out the thermometer.

"You silly girl!" Poppy cried. "How will I ever know if you're back to normal temperature?"

"I feel fine, there's your proof. Now go stand somewhere else while I talk with Severus."

Madam Pomfrey pursed her lips but left the two alone. "So," said Snape softly. "Black helped you escape Azkaban, eh?"

Yvonne glared at him. "Who told you that?" she snarled.

"Dumbledore. He was surprised when I told him you were here. He was expecting your owl, not you."

"Yeah well, I was kicked out of my rental home."

"You mean Black forced you out?"

"No, he just didn't trust me and want me around. I heard him telling Harry that he thought I was dangerous." Tears filled her eyes as she remembered what Sirius said.

"So you endangered your life because he insulted you?"

"I know it sounds stupid, but why hang around when he doesn't want me there?"

Snape looked at her with a mix of pity and resentment on his face. "Yvonne, I understand that you must be hurting," he began.

"You don't know how I feel, Severus. The main reason I agreed to go with Sirius was to be close to Harry, my godson."

"You mean you're Potter's--"

"Godmother, yes. Lily and James appointed me the godmother of their child shortly after they declared that Sirius was the godfather. Sirius knew this and was angry. I guess he didn't want to share a responsibility with me." Snape looked away from her. "You know, Severus, you haven't changed since I last saw you," Yvonne said, her voice dripping into a purr.

"Is that good or bad?" he asked fighting the urge to smile in triumph.

"Good. I'm glad that I'm working alongside someone I know."

Severus raised his eyebrows but didn't say anything. "You should get some rest," he finally mumbled. "The first start of term begins in a few days and you'll need to get ready for the students." Yvonne nodded and closed her eyes.

After about an hour of cooling off, Harry decided to come downstairs. He was still upset at Sirius for lying to him, but he figured they could discuss it later. When he came downstairs, he saw his godfather slumped on the couch with his hands covering his face.

"Sirius?" he said softly. Sirius jumped at being addressed. He looked over and saw Harry. "I-I'm sorry," Harry muttered without looking at him. "I overreacted and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me."

Sirius stared at him. "I should be the one saying I'm sorry. I lied to you, Harry. That was wrong of me. I'm sorry I never told you the truth about how I got out of Azkaban and I'm sorry I never mentioned that Yvonne was your godmother. I didn't want you becoming too close to her."

"But she's the closest thing to a mother that I have, Sirius!" Harry practically shouted. "And you're the closest thing to a father! Yvonne was a very nice woman and I bet she still is. I know you still care about her, even if you won't admit it."

"Harry, please don't change the subject to Yvonne. I've heard enough about her to last me a lifetime."

Harry narrowed his eyes dangerously. "Do you even know where she went off to?" he asked angrily.

"I don't know. She just left. My bet is that she went to Hogwarts."

"Well, either she took a Muggle car or something because it looks like a nasty thunderstorm is coming our way," said Harry glancing out the window.

Sirius looked up. "Yvonne doesn't own a car. She's a Animagus, so she'd fly to Hogwarts as a falcon." He stood up quickly and went to grab his cloak. "She could catch her death out there! I have to find her!"

"Sirius, she's probably safe at Hogwarts right now. Dumbledore would've known exactly what to do if she arrived. When September 1st comes around, I'll tell you if Yvonne's at school or not."

"You're right, Harry. Yvonne's a strong woman. She'll be alright, not that I care, mind you." He gave his godson a pointed look as if saying that that settled the conversation.

September 1st came quickly. Yvonne waited impatiently in the Great Hall for the students to arrive. Severus was on her right and there was an empty seat on her left where Professor McGonagall was supposed to sit. She fiddled with her hands expectantly. Finally, the older students began filing into the hall. Second years and above found seats at the tables where they were supposed to sit and sat down. There were murmurs throughout the hall and heads slowly began to turn towards Yvonne.

"Who's that?"

"She's pretty."

"Hey, isn't that that woman you and Sirius were with, Harry?" Ron Weasley asked Harry when they sat down and looked at the teachers' table.

"Yeah, it is. I'll have to owl Sirius and tell him she's okay," he said glancing at his godmother. "He was worried that she had died and I told him I'd owl him if she was alright at Hogwarts."

"She looks more than alright," Ron mumbled. Harry grinned and Hermione rolled her eyes.

The first years came striding into the Great Hall following Professor McGonagall. Each of them was called up and sorted into a House. Once the Sorting was over, Professor Dumbledore stood up and announced, "There are some start of term notices I wish to announce. Firstly, please welcome our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Davis." There was an earnest amount of applause from everyone, mostly the Gryffindors. Very few Slytherins were clapping for her. "Secondly," Dumbledore continued with a twinkle in his eye as he pointedly stared at the Weasley twins, "Mr. Filch has asked me to remind all students that there shall be no setting off of fireworks in the hallways or anywhere, for that matter."

"Well that's a bugger," Fred Weasley groaned.

"Yeah, all our fun is spoiled this term," agreed George.

"Filch is a stupid git anyway," said their friend, Lee Jordan.

Harry shushed them and listened intently for Dumbledore to announce dinner. "And thirdly," the headmaster said, "let the feast begin!" Everyone's plates filled with food.

"So, what do you think of the new DADA teacher?" Seamus Finnigan asked Harry and Ron.

"She looks like she's capable of teaching," Ron said with a faraway voice. "And a whole lot more..."

"Ron!" Hermione shouted indignantly.

"What? Is it wrong to admire a teacher?" he asked innocently.

"That's more than admiration and you know it," she snapped. "For heavens sake Ron, the woman's about ten times your age."

"So? Doesn't mean that I can't fantasize about her."

Harry grinned again and looked back at the staff table. Was it just him or was Yvonne conversing with Snape? No, that was impossible. If she had loved Sirius in her school days, then she must have been part of the We-All-Hate-Snape Club, right? But there she was, talking away with the Potions Master. He would have to talk to her sometime when neither of them had classes to attend.

Yvonne looked back at the Gryffindor table and spotted Harry. She allowed herself a small smile of delight. He looked so much like James it was uncanny. "Yvonne?" said Snape's voice in her ear. She turned to look at him. "Did you hear what I asked you?"

"Um...not really," she muttered.

Severus followed her gaze to the Gryffindor table and made an involuntary snort. "I wouldn't waste your time on staring at the Gryffindors, Yvonne," he snapped. "Potter isn't worth your concern. He can very well take care of himself."

"Oh Severus, don't tell me that you hold a grudge on the poor boy," she said. "After what James did for you in sixth year, I should think you'd be grateful. What has Harry ever done to you?"

He didn't respond. "I see," Yvonne said slowly. "So you hate the boy for no reason? That is so prejudice, Severus."

Severus narrowed his eyes but kept silent. Yvonne shook her head and glanced over at the Slytherin table. She noticed a boy about Harry's age staring at her. He had silvery-blonde hair and gray eyes. He had a slight smirk on his face that reminded her of someone.

"Severus, who is that boy at the Slytherin table?" she asked as she pointed to him.

"That would be Draco Malfoy," he answered shortly.

"Draco Malfoy, as in Lucius Malfoy's son?"

"The very same."

"My god, he looks exactly like Lucius. A pity for him, really. But it seems the girls don't quite agree. They find him irresistible."

Severus turned back to his meal. Yvonne continued to look at Malfoy. "Severus, why is he staring at me like that?" she asked wearily.

The Potions Master looked up and glanced at Draco. "He probably thinks you're beautiful," he commented. "Not that I blame him."

"Severus..." Yvonne said playfully punching his arm.

"Either that or his father knows you're here and wants him to keep a close watch on you."

"I like the first one better. Lucius doesn't know I'm here. There's just no way possible that he would."

"Have it your way."

At the Slytherin table, Draco Malfoy continued to stare at Yvonne. "Draco, who're you starin' at?" Goyle asked.

Draco rolled his eyes and pointed to the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. "I'm staring at the new teacher, Goyle," he replied irritably. "She's quite a catch, isn't she?"

"Oh, I dunno..." he said stupidly.

"Draco darling," said another voice to his left. He groaned. "What on earth are you staring at?"

He turned towards the girl who had addressed him. It was Pansy Parkinson. "That is really none of your business, Pansy," he snapped.

"But it is my business," she insisted. "You're my boyfriend and I have a right to know."

"For the last time, I am not your boyfriend! I never will be your boyfriend, got it?!"

Pansy seemed to ignore him and turned to Goyle. "Goyle, do you by chance know what Draco is staring at?" she asked politely.

"Yeah, the new DADA teacher," he replied, and then he recoiled. Pansy looked like she would explode. She swiftly turned towards Draco and forced him to look at her.

"Pansy, let go of my chin!" he shouted angrily. Most of the Slytherins where looking at them blankly. "God, what kind of nails do you have? Are they talons or something?"

"Stop looking at that teacher and I'll let go of your chin," she said wickedly.

"But--"

"Do it while you still can, Draco."

He sighed and removed his eyes from Yvonne. He would have to inform his father about this woman right away. She looked around his age so his father would have been sure to know her back in his school days.

Harry was looking across the room at Malfoy. He noticed him watching Yvonne closely and motioned for Ron and Hermione to see as well. "Why would he be staring at her?" Hermione asked suspiciously.

"Obvious, isn't it?" replied Ron. "He finds Professor Davis just as eye-catching as I do. Although, he doesn't stand a chance with her since he's got that stupid Pansy Parkinson latching onto his arm."

Hermione rolled her eyes again and huffed angrily. Harry was still glaring at Malfoy. "What if Malfoy's father told him to keep a close eye on Yvonne?" he asked Ron and Hermione.

"Oh c'mon Harry," Ron said. "There's no way that Lucius Malfoy would know Professor Davis was teaching this year. You said yourself that she received a letter a few days before term started."

"I know," he sighed. "It's just, Sirius said that Voldemort--" Ron winced "--might be after Yvonne and we all know that Lucius Malfoy is a Death Eater. So obviously if Malfoy tells his father about Yvonne being here, Voldemort could come attack the school and take her."

"But what would You-Know-Who want with Professor Davis?" Hermione wondered.

"I wish I knew. But I don't trust Snape talking with her either. He could be plotting something against her. I'll owl Sirius tonight to tell him everything."

"It's only the first day of term and already our adventure is beginning," said Ron quietly.

Hermione nodded and Harry continued to stare at Yvonne. Once the feast was over, everyone made for their common rooms.

The next morning was very nerve-wracking for Yvonne. She would be having her first class that morning which was the fifth year Slytherins and Gryffindors. She had asked Dumbledore what an appropriate lesson would be. He mentioned talking a little about dark creatures, such as dragons, vampires, and werewolves. He had also handed her a note from the previous Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher two years back.

Yvonne stared at the note for a long time looking at the signature. It was from an old friend, or to put it bluntly, from Remus Lupin. She had obviously known him if she had hanged around with the Marauders back in her school days. He had been like a brother to her because she could tell him certain things that she never told Sirius. She shook her head of old memories and gathered her things for her first class.

Harry was ushering his friends to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. "Harry, since when do you want to be early for class?" Hermione asked as he dragged her and Ron down the hallway.

"Since Yvonne is teaching," he answered. Ron stared oddly at him.

"Look, I know she stayed with you and Sirius this summer, but aren't you being just a little hyper?" he asked raising his eyebrows.

Harry turned around irritably. "Ron, I'm not the one who's infatuated with her," he said.

Ron turned red with embarrassment. "You're joking, Potter!" drawled a cold voice they knew all too well. "You can't possibly be saying that the Weasel likes the new professor!" Draco Malfoy was walking up the hall heading for the same classroom. Crabbe and Goyle were on either side of him.

"And what if I am?" Harry growled grabbing his wand tightly.

Draco smirked and crossed his arms. He turned to Ron. "You don't stand a chance with her, Weasley. She only goes for the best-looking men and you are certainly not part of that category."

"Well, you don't have a chance with her either, Malfoy," he retorted. "You got Pansy Parkinson, don't you? I don't think Professor Davis would like it that you're cheating on her with another girl."

The blonde boy turned pink but kept on smirking. "You just wait, Weasley," he snarled. "One of these days I'll get you."

"Is there a problem here?" said a new voice. Yvonne came striding out in her new blue robes looking very professional and beautiful. The fight stopped abruptly. Ron and Draco fixed their eyes on the 'angel' before them. Harry, Hermione, Crabbe, and Goyle stared at their friends in bewilderment. They shook their heads to her question. "Good, then would you please come inside? Class is about to start," she said walking back into her classroom.

Ron rushed to the front of the room and sat down staring fixedly on Yvonne. Draco did the same as he dragged his thugs roughly by the arms. He sat down opposite from Ron and kept his eyes also fixed on Yvonne. Harry and Hermione slowly sat down next to Ron and stared at him blankly. The rest of the class filed in quietly.

"Good morning, class," Professor Davis introduced once everyone was seated. "My name is Yvonne Davis, but you will all call me Professor Davis while in class. Professor Dumbledore informed me of last year's fiasco with the DADA teacher. It seems that you have covered the Unforgivable Curses, correct?"

There were nods throughout the class. "All right, then I have been asked to talk to you about dark creatures. Can someone give me an example of one?"

As usual, Hermione's hand shot straight into the air. But it was also followed by Ron's and Draco's. Yvonne checked her list of names and pointed to Draco. "Yes, Mr. Malfoy?" she asked smiling.

For a moment he paused with his mouth agape, then he finally realized that he had been called on. "Um...a dragon is one," he answered softly putting down his hand.

"Yes, very good. Five points to Slytherin." Draco turned to Harry, Ron, and Hermione and gave them all a satisfied smirk. "Now, as I understand it, you all saw dragons last year because of the TriWizard Tournament, correct?"

Again, everyone nodded. "Does anyone know the different breeds of dragons?" she asked.

Hermione's, Ron's, and Harry's hands went into the air. "Mr. Potter?" Yvonne said with a smile.

Harry blushed and answered, "Hungarian Horntail, Chinese Fireball, Welsh Green, and a Swedish Short-Snout."

"Good. Five points to Gryffindor. Does anyone else know any other dark creatures? Mr. Weasley?"

"Vampires," Ron replied.

"Yes, those are very dark and mysterious. Five points to Gryffindor." Ron turned to face Draco and smiled triumphantly at him. "Now, Miss...Granger would you be able to tell me what another dark creature is?"

Hermione answered promptly, "Werewolves." Harry turned to glance at her accusingly. She turned slightly pink.

Yvonne looked grave as she answered, "Yes, werewolves are dark creatures. Five more points to Gryffindor." She glanced at her watch and realized that it was almost time to leave. "Ooh, looks like we've run out of time. But that does not mean that there won't be any homework tonight. I want a short essay about a dark creature that fascinates you to be handed in on Wednesday. Good day to you all." Everyone stood up, gathered their books, and left the classroom. Hermione and Harry were still trying to get Ron to move a little bit faster. Draco was walking backwards staring at Yvonne until he accidentally bumped into Crabbe.

Once everyone had gone, Yvonne relaxed at her desk and rubbed her temples. "Not bad for my first class," she mumbled to herself. "However I think I should give harder homework next time."

Harry and Hermione steered Ron into the Potions classroom, as it was their next class. Draco was following after them with his usual smirk on his face. "That was an excellent lesson, wasn't it?" Ron said dreamily.

"Ron, get a hold of yourself. You're going crazy," Hermione said fearfully.

"Don't tell me the Weasel is still fantasizing about Professor Davis, Granger," Draco drawled when they had sat down in the classroom. Snape hadn't entered yet.

Ron switched from looking dazed to looking outraged. "Oh yeah?" he retorted. "Well if I recall you were staring at her all through the lesson too, Malfoy."

Draco turned red but kept his smirk. "I have my reasons," he replied coolly.

"Yeah, I bet your father asked you to watch her this year, right Malfoy?" Harry snarled while clenching his fists.

"For your information, Potter, my father does not even know about Professor Davis teaching here this year. However, I do plan to tell him." At that moment, Professor Snape came striding into the room.

"For today's lesson," he began in his silky voice, "you will be working on the Animus Potion. Can anyone tell me what this potion does? Mr. Malfoy?"

"It changes you into the animal that you are most likely to be if you ever become an Animagus," Draco answered with a smug grin.

"That is correct. Ten points to Slytherin."

The Gryffindors were very bitter through the lesson as Snape applauded the Slytherins and took points off of Gryffindor. It got even worse when Snape had chosen the partners. Draco was with Ron, Harry with Blaise Zabini, and Hermione with Pansy Parkinson.

The potion needed two drops of snake venom and three chunks of alligator meat. Ron was glaring at Draco as he poured the drops of snake venom into the cauldron. Draco was absentmindedly dropping the chunks of alligator meat into the potion, which turned a nasty shade of red.

Ron couldn't contain himself anymore and decided to begin aggravating Draco. "Of course it's no mystery what you'll be, Malfoy," he said snidely. "After what Moody did last year, everyone knows what your animal form is."

His taunting worked. Draco turned pink but desperately tried to ignore him. He retaliated by saying, "And we all know that you'll be a stinky little weasel, Weasley."

The redhead flushed red. "Your potions should be finished by now," Snape announced. "Test your potion. If you have done it correctly, then you shall be an animal for thirty minutes."

Draco took a spoon off the desk and dipped it into the potion. Ron did the same. They both quickly took a sip of it. Ron felt himself changing form. He soon found himself on the ground staring at a small white ferret. He tried to laugh, but all that came out of his mouth, was a chirp.

The ferret glanced at him in shock and twitched its whiskers. Ron tried to see what his friends had turned into, but apparently, he was too small. When he tried to walk, he realized that whatever he was, hopped on the ground. He turned his head and saw that he had wings. He was a bird, or to put it bluntly, he was a cardinal. He stretched out his wings and flapped them. He flew into the air and softly landed on the desk to see everything. He could still see Malfoy scuttling around on the floor. He scanned the room for Harry and finally found him.

Harry had turned into a young lion. He still had green eyes and somewhere on his forehead fur, there was a lightning shaped scar. Instead of a normal lion's brown mane, he had black hair on his mane and tail. His fur was a slightly darker brown. Right beside him was a black widow spider. Ron recoiled slightly at seeing Blaise Zabini's animal form. He looked around for Hermione and saw a pretty beige tabby cat prancing around the chairs. He chirped at her in his new musical voice and she looked up. Hermione meowed in response. There was a hissing noise behind Ron and he quickly turned around. There was big rattlesnake behind him barring its fangs threateningly and shaking its rattler. Was this Pansy Parkinson? It must of have been. The same evil glint that she had was in the snake's eyes.

Ron easily flew out of the way before she bit him. Draco was watching all of his classmates running around like idiots. Animals, was more like it. He didn't like his form at all. Not one bit, but it wasn't like he had chosen to be a white ferret. Weasley was a cardinal. Granger was a tabby cat and Potter was a lion. Well, boo-hoo for them. Pansy was a snake, which was, in his opinion, unfair. And Blaise was a black widow spider. Again, unfair. How was it that his housemates were more dangerous than he was as an animal?

Finally, and to Draco's relief, Snape told them all that the potion would be wearing off very soon. Just before Draco had changed back into himself, he noticed a strange looking rat staring at him. It seemed to have a paw missing.

Once everyone was back to normal, Draco walked up to Snape's desk to tell him about the strange rat. But at that moment, Professor Davis stormed into the room. "SEVERUS!" she thundered.

Everyone was silent. They had never seen her like this before. Yvonne stopped at the front of his desk seething. "What is it, Yvonne?" Snape asked calmly.

"I found this hidden underneath my chair!" she cried brandishing a piece of parchment.

"Yes, and your point?"

"I know you left it!"

"And if I did?" he said with an amused expression.

"Well--then--the answer's--yes," she replied, unsure of what else to say.

Snape smiled, for the first time, at least for his students. "Good. Then we'll meet Saturday," he answered softly. Yvonne blushed slightly and apologized to the class.

Draco turned back to Snape. "Sir, before I transformed back into myself, I noticed a strange looking rat over there with one of its paws missing," he said.

Yvonne paled and her eyes narrowed. "Sorry to interrupt, Mr. Malfoy, but did you say that this rat had a paw missing?" she said.

"Y-yes, professor."

"I see." All of a sudden, Lavender Brown let out a shriek as a gray rat scuttled out of the classroom. "Oh no you don't!" Yvonne cried running after it. Snape stared openmouthed for a while until he followed after her. His class right behind him.

Yvonne had chased the rat out onto the school grounds. "Come back here, coward!" she was yelling. And then, to everyone's surprise, she transformed into a peregrine falcon. She flew high into the air circling around the grounds. Her acute sense of vision spotted the rat heading along across the ground to the Forbidden Forest. She broke into a dive. Yvonne snatched something with her long talons as she pulled back up. The class gasped when they realized that she had the rat enclosed in her talons. She flew for a little more and was about to head back down, when a gust of wind swept by, knocking the rat out of her clutches. She let out an angry squawk as the rat plummeted to the ground and scurried off into the forest.

The falcon landed on the ground transforming back into Professor Davis. "Damn him! I can't believe he got away!" she was seething. "After all this time of tracking him and he still got away! The little traitor!"

"Um...Yvonne, who are you talking about?" Snape asked politely.

"Pettigrew, Severus, Pettigrew!" she shouted.

Harry's eyes widened. She was after Wormtail as well? Was her mission to kill him like Sirius' was? "That was Pettigrew?" Snape choked.

"Of course. There's only one rat in the world that has a paw missing from his right hand. Sometimes being a falcon has its advantages of seeing things no one else can see."

The students were all regarding Yvonne oddly. Why was she psyched on capturing Pettigrew? Wasn't the Ministry already looking for him? "Perhaps we should get back inside," Snape suggested. Yvonne nodded and helped him herd the Gryffindors and Slytherins back into the castle.

Harry was still pondering over Yvonne screaming about how Wormtail had escaped her yet again. Had she tried to capture him before? Before he left the Potions classroom, he heard a conversation with her and Snape.

"So...Saturday is still open for you?" Snape asked her as he gathered his ingredients.

"Of course, Severus. I wouldn't miss it for the world," Yvonne answered sitting on a desk.

"Is eight o'clock all right with you?"

"I guess so. You know, I'm not sure faculty members should be showing this type of behavior."

"That's what makes it more interesting, Yvonne." Harry was getting the feeling that he shouldn't be listening to this. This was their private conversation and he didn't want to intrude. Whatever his godmother chose to do, it was fine with him. If she wanted to date Snape, that was okay. But, just to be on the safe side, he was going to tell Sirius about everything that had happened.

Classes went by fairly quickly that day. Harry, Ron, and Hermione climbed through the portrait hole into the Gryffindor common room. Harry took out a piece of parchment and a quill and said, "I'm going to write to Sirius. I want to tell him everything about Snape and Yvonne's conversation."

"Is she really meeting Snape in Hogsmeade on Saturday?" Ron asked hotly. He was particularly sour after Harry had told him and Hermione about Yvonne and Snape.

"That's what I heard," answered Harry.

"Really Harry, it's their private business," lectured Hermione. "I'm sure Yvonne can take care of herself without you and Sirius breathing down her back."

"Herm, listen to yourself," Ron said. "You're ranting. Besides, Harry promised Sirius he would write to him. He can't go back on his promise."

Hermione sighed and rolled her eyes. Harry grinned and began to write his letter. Once he was done, he gave the parchment to Hedwig and she flew away.

Sirius was sleeping in bed when he heard a tapping noise. "Damn," he grumbled while trying to sit up. He rubbed his eyes and yawned tiredly. He then noticed a snowy owl outside his window. "Hedwig!" he cried running to open the window. She flew inside and dropped the letter on his bed. Sirius quickly picked it up and opened it. It read:

Dear Sirius,

You asked me to keep you posted on everything here, so here it goes. You wouldn't believe the kind of looks Yvonne is getting from the male population here. Ron really likes her. So does Malfoy, which I find suspicious. I thought his father might have told him to keep a close eye on Yvonne this year. We all know Lucius Malfoy's a Death Eater and you said that Voldemort could be after Yvonne. But Malfoy just denied it. Stupid git.

Anyway, today in Potions we made this Animus Potion which turned us into animals that we would be if we had ever become Animagus. I was a lion, Hermione was a cat, and Ron was a cardinal. I told you about the little incident last year with Moody, didn't I? If I didn't, then I'll tell you now. Guess what kind of animal Malfoy is. If you said a snake, you're way off. Surprisingly, Pansy Parkinson was a snake and Blaise Zabini was a black widow spider. Malfoy was a white ferret! Can you believe it? A ferret!

Oh, nearly forgot. At the end of class, Yvonne stomped up to Snape's desk screaming about some note he had left under her chair. She was really seething. I think it was a invitation to dinner or something. Then Malfoy told Snape that he saw a rat with a paw missing and Yvonne kinda paled for a second. Then she rushed out of the room after the rat. Once she was outside, she transformed into a falcon and grabbed the rat in her talons, but she dropped him and he ran into the forest. She wouldn't stop complaining. She said it was Pettigrew. What if Voldemort's sending him to keep a close watch on Yvonne?

Also, just so you know, Snape and Yvonne are meeting at the Three Broomsticks on Saturday at eight o'clock. I overheard a conversation. So, write back as soon as possible.

Harry

Sirius was turning white halfway through the letter. The news he had of Yvonne chasing after Wormtail frightened him. Was she after that traitor as well? Hearing about Snape and Yvonne meeting in Hogsmeade didn't make him any happier. His face turned a dark red and his eyes flashed with jealously. Snape actually had the nerve to ask out Yvonne? What was that slimy, greasy-haired git thinking?

This was obviously just to show him up. Sirius went to get a quill to write back. Even if Yvonne hated him, he was going to protect her at all costs. He didn't trust Snape one bit and he had reason not to. When he was finished with his letter, he reread it.

Harry--

It's good that you told me when you did. I normally don't say this, but I want you to keep a close eye on Yvonne while she's on her little date with Snape. Take the Invisibility Cloak to eavesdrop. If Snape tries anything on Yvonne, try to sabotage him or something.

Anyway, this news of Malfoy staring at Yvonne is odd. Either it's physical attraction or it's his father's bidding. No Malfoy does something without a reason. But I'm having a hard time thinking that Lucius Malfoy would know that she was working at Hogwarts this year. Maybe Voldemort is using Wormtail as a source instead. You said that Yvonne chased him onto the school grounds and then changed into a falcon? Well, she can see anything in her falcon form. Peter must have slipped through her talons and ran away back to his master.

Write me back as soon as possible when you have any leads on anything suspicious.

-- Sirius

Satisfied with his letter, Sirius sealed it up and gave it to Hedwig. She hooted and took off into the night.

Draco was sitting up most of the night waiting for a reply from his father. He had owled his father the first day back to school, telling him about Yvonne and asking if he knew her.

Finally, he heard a tapping sound on his window and went to open it. His eagle owl landed on his bed and dropped the letter. He carefully opened it and read:

Son,

There is only one Yvonne Davis that I can think of. She was a pureblood Gryffindor in the same year as I was. I didn't know her personally, but I believe Professor Snape did. He was the one that adored her. Other than that, I want you to steer clear of her. She's dangerous. The master has someone else spying at Hogwarts. I trust you know who it is. I'll be Albus Dumbledore before I have to explain something as simple as this to you. If you find out anything interesting about dear Miss Davis, do write again. But until then, do not ask me such foolish questions.

Lucius Malfoy

Draco huffed angrily. What right did his father have of making him steer clear of Professor Davis? She was an angel. It was no wonder why Professor Snape liked her. But the blonde boy shook his head. Wormtail was watching the school in rat form. He was nearly caught by Yvonne earlier that day. She seemed very determined to capture him.

On the upside, his father would never know that he was infatuated with Yvonne. He grinned smugly to himself before he settled into his bed.
