Ch 1 Back to Hogwarts

She walked back into the school for the first time in many, many years. What 20 or 30 years? She had lost count. She can't...she doesn't want to remember. There were too many painful memories that roamed the halls. Her past, which not too many people knew about and for good reasons, were painful, but Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, did not change.

She remembered the castle has it had been those many years before. The only thing different was the people, but she knew most of them, well knew of them.

It was almost lunchtime, and the students were roaming the halls. They stared at her as she entered the Great Hall. It has been almost two months since their term began.

She knew where she wanted to go. Why was she here? It hurt her to be here. A pain that was so deep inside, and for so long. Why did she come back? Why did she answer that call? Well, it wasn't really a call now was it? Anyways she walked on, looking at the portraits as she passed them.

She came to a familiar corridor with a familiar statue. Behind the statue lays Dumbledore's door to his office . She knew what the password was. It was hinted very well in the letter. The letter that had called to her. 'Stupid owl' she thought. That was what called her, its hoot and it's tapping at the window to let her in.

She knocked on the door.

Albus Dumbledore knew Sahara would come back to Hogwarts. He knew because he not only knew her so well and that the fact was he had run out of last resorts and that he really needed her help, but...he knew (and he even knew that she knew he knew) that she also needed him. She needed comfort.

Poor girl. After all those years of believing your own flesh in blood was capable of such a crime. After hating him with a passion that could kill, then more then 13 years later learn it was set up and he was falsely accused. That her brother was betrayed by one of his best friends who was power hungry. Albus knew she was hurting very badly.

He called out to her, and she entered. She looked at him and him at her. She had known him for a long time. He was like her father (Hating the thought of even mentioning her real one. Sahara and her father didn't get along very well. Sahara didn't hate Muggles but she was not in love with them. Her father hated the fact that she didn't hate them. Plus her mother broke a tradition when naming Sahara. Since Sahara was not a constellation her father hated that as well. They never got along. To sum it up Sahara's views were way different than her fathers and he hated that so they didn't get along.

"Professor," She said..."Professor Dumbledore"

"Yes?" he replied but did not wait or expect to get an answer.

"Sahara my dear, how are you? So many years have gone by. Please sit. Look at you my dear. Tall, elegant, and beautiful. You came. Thank you. Let me finish." He said before she could reply.

"I have a job offer. Of course, not many people stay at it. Well you know why. But it is you. You're strong, smart, and talented. I know you work well and are, well, taking time off, but you came. So you will, then, won't you?" He finished.

"Yes of course Albus, yes sir."

"Good my dear, good." Albus replied and it was settled.

She wasn't starting today. Tomorrow she began. For now, she was to find Minerva McGonagall, deputy headmistress, but she had class now, and it would not be over for another hour. She didn't want to be a bother. She really liked Minerva and could wait to be shown to her room.

So with permission from the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, she explored the painful halls with painful memories, but also pleasant memories. Around every corner she saw her brother and it make her sad for he was now dead. But she also remembered the good times she had here.

She wandered out onto the grounds where a tall mean looking man was walking away for the Forbidden Forest with plants and herbs. As he walked past her he grumbled and glared. 'Oh this is going to be fun' Sahara thought and also wandered if he even remembered her. "Well obviously" she said aloud to her self after he had passed. That man was a man she had gone to school with and now he was the Potions Master here at Hogwarts.

She found her way back to the Transfiguration room where Minerva was just as the students were leaving.

"Uh, Sahara. I thought I herd rumors of your arrival. How are you? Good? Well now, thank you for waiting. Shall I show you to your room?"

"Yes please Minerva. I would enjoy that. Thank you" said Sahara.

"You're going to have a lovely here dear. Well as long as...well the name shall not be mentioned. Anyways you will have a lovely time."

"Do any of the teachers know, um, about, well, my last name and the history behind it?" Asked Sahara

"Yes most, well all of them know. Some are compassionate; while others...you know how witches and wizards get my dear. Don't worry they will come around" said Minerva as the came to Sahara's room.

"Here you go my dear. All your things have been brought up. Winky will help you get unpacked. I told her not to do anything yet because I know how you always like having you privacy. Head on in. Get your things unpacked. Supper is only in a few. It you need anything you know where my office is, and my room is down the hall. I will see you later." With that Minerva turned around and walked away.

Sahara walked into her room where Winky was sitting.

"Evening Winky, I will unpack my things. I need to do something right now. Could your come back about twenty minuets before dinner, please?"

"Why yes ma'am" said Winky

"Oh and Winky, my name is Sahara, not ma'am and for the most part, you can call me 'Say'. Alright? Great." And with that Winky left with Sahara alone with a 'pop.'

Sahara started unpacking her things the Muggle way. She needed time to think. She hung her robes and folded her clothes. At the bottom of her last bag she found a picture of her brother Sirius Black. She found another one of Sirius, James Potter and Remus Lupin. She started to cry and put the pictures away.

She walked into her bathroom and decided to get a shower. When she was done, she got dressed. Winky came and told her dinner would be ready soon, so Sahara walked down the stairs to the Great Hall.

'Great' she thought as she sat down to dinner. She had to sit between two professors that were not of her choice. To her right was Professor Sinistra. Sinistra was one of the few teachers that hated Sahara because her last name was Black. To Sahara's right was the mean looking Potions Master, Professor Severus Snape.

After all the students settled down Professor Dumbledore stood up.

"Attention, quit down. I have an announcement to make, settle down now. I would like you to meet Professor Sahara. She is your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Please give her a warm welcome and make her stay here a pleasant one. Thank you and enjoy."

Dinner rolled on and Sahara looked to her left where Professor Snape was sitting. Sahara had a flash back to her past...
